Question about Toshiba TheaterWide 52HM94 52" Rear Projection HDTV
How can I check to see if the ballast is bad?
SOURCE: New bulb/TV still shuts down
Its far more likely the result of the power pwb capacitors that have failed. As the 34 code will appear if the capacitors fail on the Power PWB. You can get the V26 DLP Power repair kit at the following link.with free instructions

the ballast is a small rectangular board.it is very easy to change.remove the lamp and you
will see a plug where the lamp plugs into.remove the two screws on that plug.then
remove the 4 screws holding the ballast in.remove the ballast and install the new one.

The Ballast voltage should 300 volts. You may have a problem on the power board. Possibly some bad capacitors. Look for the tops of the capacitors to be domed instead of flat.
