How do you remove the cover from a cannon ip8500

the waste ink absorber cannot be replaced mate. you have to buy new printer.the waste ink absorber is the sponge part where head cleans all its ink. its a common problem in cannon.

Print cartridge
When the print cartridge contacts are dirty and the printer cannot detect/communicate with print cartridge.
Clean the contact points on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth.
1. Open the top cover of the printer.
2. Remove the print cartridges.
3. Clean the copper-colored contact points on the cartridges with a damp, lint-free cloth. Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove moisture from the contacts.
5. Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
6. Close the top cover.
7. Try printing again.
If you still cant communicate try with new cartridge .

Check the following :
1. Check whether the printer you want to print is set as the default printer, by taking the control panel, then choose Printer and right your printer icon, then select 'SET AS DEFAULT PRINTER'.
2. Reconnect the printer cable to the PC. If that doesn't solve, replace the cable with new one.

reinstall you cannon printer driver cd in your pc! install it correctly without an error message......... and check the connection.....

Is there any chance the feed / supply rollers etc have got any ink on them and need a clean.?

Error 5100 on Canon Pixma iP8500. flashes orange 2 times. Sounds like the paper isn't being picked up. But I don't know how to fix it.
