Sounds like the water inlet solenoid is getting stuck open, this is assuming you ice cubes are normal to large in size, Small would indicate the ice maker is leaking, You can try just replacing this valve , It's the valve that connects to the water hose behind your refrigerator and is fastened to the lower corner of refrigerator.
Otherwise you can purchase the entire ice maker and solenoid kit for around 65.00
Hope this helps
Are you sure it's the ice maker that's leaking? We have this model & ours accumulates a HUGE iceberg in the bottom of the freezer, but the water seems to be coming out of the back, at the bottom of the back panel, where the vents are.
The cold water reservoir in the refrigerator could have a leak. Usually located on the back wall behind the drawers. The ice maker may not be operating properly either, or the hose leading to it may be leaking. Or the ice maker mold may be cracked. Or the ice maker fill tube has gotten misaligned with the ice maker.
Let me know what you find, and I can give you more direction.
All assumes the ice maker is acting as you describe. There are situations where the drain tube under the freezer coil will clog, preventing water from properly draining from the defrost cycle.
Sounds like water valve is not closing all the way after the icemaker calls for water. This is because sediment in water builds up on valve seat therefore letting water pass through. Suggest replacing fill valve. Crescent shaped ice....ice maker on needs 4 ounces to fill icemaker, so any more than that will spill out.
The filter should be before the fridge and should not affect it it sounds like the water valve from the fridge is defective .Other possibility is the icemaker head is defective and needs changing.
