Yeoman Gas stove pre-2005 need parts

I have a Yeoman Exminster gas stove which cuts out after 15 minutes. The original company, Yeoman, ceased trading around 2005 and although Stovax took the name over and continue to make the same named stove, it apparently doesn'thave the same internal parts and so can't supply parts for mine. No local or indeed, suppliers from England have any parts or suggestions. As it has had very little use in all the time we'vs had it, it seems such a huge waste for want of a suitable flue sensor (I and the gas guy that did look at it think!)

no gas flow sounds like a bad gas regulato on the stove. as for the 5 year old ge profile with ignitors not working, you need a part called a spark modual

There is nothing fancy about how the gas controls work on this unit. Do all burners give you the same problem? If so, it could be a kinked service hose or a service valve that has been partly shut. If it is limited to a single burner or two, the valve may be gummed up and should be replaced.

If your top burners are not lighting or will not work, it is possible that the burners have become dirty or wet. Please follow the troubleshooting directions below before calling service:

  1. Turn you burner to the Lite position:

If you hear clicking or sparking, go to Step 2.

If you do not, check your circuit breakers. If the circuit breaker is ok, we recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

  2. Clean the burner and electrode:

First remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Use a needle or paper clip to poke through the holes on the burner head. Re-assemble and try the burner.

Remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Even if it looks clean, wipe the tip of the electrode with a clean, dry paper towel and PRESS IT DOWN. Re-assemble and try the burner, again.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 3.

  3. Re-assemble - Make sure that each burner top matches its burner bottom. The burner top will lay flat if put on correctly.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 4.

  4. The spark igniter is operating properly, but the burner is still not lighting. At this point, we would recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

SOURCE: General Electric stove top burner does not light

Sorry for apparently not giving feedback earlier, but the gas valve on the one burner has been replaced, and that solved the problem. What apparently caused this is someone forcing the knob in the reverse direction that broke something in the shaft. It sort of worked for a little while, then would not work at all... no gas coming out = no ignition. I replaced the gas valve with the suggestions given above and all is well.

I you are having problem with your unit, check to see if gas is coming out at all from the burners...you will be able to smell it easily. Then find the pinhole on the side of the burner that is used to ignite the burner when the spark is sparking. clean this pinhole out with a toothpick or small wire...really make it clean as small obstructions can prevent it from working. Then clean off the small electrode with fine sand paper and use the toothpick to remove any food particles on the electrode and the insulator around it.

Now looking again at your comment - no ignitor-... if this means no spark, clean the electrodes ...if itstill doesnt work , one of the gurus can specify the component that generates the spark(s) and troubleshooting procedures for that.

To the person who had no gas, that sounds like a main gas valve problem (regulator?)... resend that question to the gurus as you seem to have something blocking the regular flow of gas for the whole unit.

good luck

SOURCE: We own a Eurogas 900mm

I have the same stove but do not have a problem with the oven door hinges but rather the glass cooker hood hinges--although my knobs are starting to burn. Both hinges have popped in separate occasions and both times I have called the Cape Town agent foo Eurogas and had fantastic responses from them. http://www.eurafrican.co.za/contactus.html

Oven igniter comes on gas burner lights but goes out after 15 seconds cutting power to the stove power comes back on after a couple of minutes model mgs5770

Hello Susan,

it is not quite clear to me what you mean.
But I think, the ingition in the gas oven works and lights the burner.
and then after 15 seconds the burner goes out.
Any modern oven has a Flame Failure Device.
That prevents the oven getting gas when the burner went out for some reason.
I would suspect that FFD, it is mounted besides the burner.
You can not repair that part for safety reasons, You have to replace it when it is gone.

Kind regards, Dik

Gas smell when using and not using

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

f the pilot light on your stove goes out, natural gas may build up in your stove. If your pilot light has gone out, open the kitchen windows and doors for 15 minutes to let the gas dissipate safely then relight the pilot light. Do not relight the pilot light immediately -- striking a match could cause an explosion.
Gas Leak

  • If you can smell the sulfur-like or rotten egg smell of gas, there may be a gas leak inside or outside your home. You might also hear a hissing sound coming from the stove or another appliance or from a pipeline. Outside gas leaks may kill or stunt nearby vegetation. Signs of carbon monoxide poisoning include nausea, dizziness, fatigue and other flu-like symptoms.

f you still smell gas after relighting the pilot light, don't hesitate. Leave your home, along with the rest of your family and pets, then call your utility company or 911 from a safe location. Leave the doors and windows open behind you, especially if the odor is strong or you can hear the hissing of a gas leak. Do not turn appliances or lights on or off or use a phone in your home. Do not strike a match or use a lighter, either. Prevention

This is the part you need. It will have instructions with it. Order this part from repairclinic.com because you really don't need it, just the directions with it, and after you switch back to gas, just send it back for a 100% refund.

Bought second hand lady lost installation instuctions yeoman gas fire stove serial number 61363

Hi,

I can almost definitely supply the installation instructions for you, however I need to know the model of the stove as the serial number doesn't actually identify it to anyone other than the manufacturer.

Some manuals with installation instructions can be downloaded by visiting the following page:

http://yeoman-stoves.co.uk/technical/instruction_manuals_%20index.htm

If your manual is not in the list, please post back with your model (this is usually a name, e.g. Exminster or Devon Double) and I will obtain the installation instructions for you if they are available.

Hope this helps.

Stoves 900DFa oven cuts out

Hi.

The most probable cause is failure in your panel cooling fan 9not the one inside your oven)

If the appliance switches on again after 15 - 20 minutes then the fault is most likely here.

Unfortunately as you have gas the you will need a Gas Safe Certified engineer to repair

Hotpoint gas oven 5yrs old pre heats fine but then doesn't keep temp up.

You have either a faulty oven thermostat, or your oven door seal is faulty. You can check the oven door seal by doing the following (you will need a A4 piece of paper):

Open the door put the paper against the seal, close the door. Now pull the paper slowly out, if there is resistance then the seal is fine.

-------------------------------------------------
The oven thermostat test is as follows (you will need a stopwatch):

Turn your oven on to the lowest setting, when it goes to high flame start timing it the oven should cut down within 8 minutes, if this doesn't occur your stat is faulty.

I hope this helps
