could have serveral problems / if under counter or in back of range . the last two i had the control buttons w wire harness needed replacement /another required the pc board in connevtion box ( under counter in right cornor. also look for poor connections in the power box .

maybe a lizard is die inside and shock your power supply circuit

I am using it on an island... it has a 6" high backsplash with a counter on top. How can we make the downdraft work with it?

There are several reasons for that:

check travel path of the print head. Any obstacles there?

Does the purge station work well?

Is your power outlet fit enough, or did you had some lighting strikes the days before? It could be another indicator for a weak power supply (ac or dc!)
