Please consult this article and the links within it to troublshoot the BSOD/stop error codes.
What you want to do is called a clean install of xp, and there are several good guides available to walk you through the process, here, here, and here. You may also be interested to know how to create a slipstreamed xp sp3 cd to make sure your new installation is up-to date instead of having to spend hours online updating the sp2. See link for that here and here.
Finally, I suspect your problem may be in the partitions you've created on your hard drive.
I'm not sure why you mention win 98, unless you are actually creating a multiboot installation of 98 & xp. In that case, see link here.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

I want install windows98 with xp in a computer

HEllo,
if you know the installation of winxp and win98 then it is possible to create a system with mercury board with 98 and xp.
firstly you install win xp in your computer. it's automatically located in c drive. then you intall win 98 custom install and then choose the installation directory of another drive like d. you use any boot manager to boot the pc with win98 and winxp. i don't tell you the installation process step by step. so don't mind.
thanking you

How to install os

This is a little difficult but it can B done :) Firstly I dunno if ya need to re-format ya drive? perhaps first ya could try to "Repair" of Win98? If that doesn't work, then, perhaps ya may have to re-format. If the Win98 is on a SEPARATE drive or Partition this also makes a difference.... Basically ... repair/re-install win98, then do a repair of ya Boot menu for XP, as Win98 sets up an incorrect Boot up for XP, and thus must be "Fixed" so XP will boot & show a Dual boot menu.. here are some links to help you step by step... http://pcworld.about.com/magazine/2109p156id111652.htm http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/ew/2004/08/30/stories/2004083000250400.htm
