You have a magnetek motor and it is overheating and cycling its thermal overload. A local electric motor repair shop may be able to fix it however it will likely need to be replaced. It is to costly to repair the motor if the damage is in the windings.

Assuming at that low a horsepower it is 115V, the likely replacement motor is a catalog #BN37. We sell it for $157. You are usually better off replacing the seal when you replace the motor and most Jacuzzi pumps are either a 200 or 1000. They should be around $5.

These are a hard motor to work on. i would suggest unplug it from the motherboard and un hook the plumbing and bring it to your local pool pump motor repair guy and have him test it. it just may need to be blown out with compressed air. do to dust in the start points

I have a Pentair Superflo 2 speed pool pump. Upon backwashing filter, restarted pump on low. It ran a few seconds then stopped. Switching to high runs fine. Any idea?

could be the bearings are going bad, this restricts the from turning easily and will cause low-speed issues. and can cause the motor to fail. also, the start capacitor could be on it's way out or run cap. pictures are a big help for us free help fixya guy and gals.

Pool pump running low psi

your pump should be just fine once the water starts flowing again. You may have run it too long without enough water to cool the seal.
If it is leaking water between the Jacuzzi Pump housing and the motor then you will need a new pump seal. Those are common pool parts.

I have a HP 1.0 SPL Jacuzzi pool pump. Seriel #BW7-02, HZ60, RPM3450, 115 Volt, 9.8 Amp. The pump will not come one, just hums. I don't have a manual. Can you direct me as to what I can do to...

First you need to find out if the motor will turn easily. There is usually a cover over the shaft opposite the pump. When you remove this cover the shaft can be turned with a wrench. If it turns easily then the start or run capacitor may be at fault. If it is hard to turn then usually the bearings are bad in which the motor needs to be replaced. You can buy a capacitor and replace the one that is there. If it runs you fixed it, If it doesn't run then the motor needs to be replaced. I hope this helps.

I have a mt2000-h magnum pump, but did not get the controlls with the pump. Im trying to figure out how to get the two speeds out of the motor when i only have one set of motor leads for the 220v hook up....

You have two windings if it is two speed. What you need is a switch
before your wires come into the motor you need to take one of the leads and run it through a high low switch. This will simply take one of your 110v lines and make it go to high and low speed on the motor.
Green will go to ground, one 110v line will go to common and the other goes to the switch. It comes out as two leads. One will hook up to the low speed terminal and the other will hook to the high speed terminal in the back of the motor.

I HAVE A MAGNUM FORCE PUMP. iT WAS RUNNING THIS

It could be the capacitor again, but most likely if it stopped while running, its not that, unless you had a brief power failure. The motor may have a built in thermal overload which turned the pump off. If it only humms then it could either be locked up by something in the impller, or could be the bearings in the motor have failed. If the motor doesn't smell "burnt" then you might stand a change to disassemble the pump. Disassemble the motor and replace bearings. Replace the mechanical seal while you have it apart. OR you could buy a new motor, as it is 10 years old.

Replaced Single Speed Pool Pump Motor with 2-Speed Motor

You will need a two speed time clock to really take advantage of real energy efficiency savings. Intermatic makes one that fits in place of the original t104 time clock. You will need to run an additional wire to the pump as well. You will have the ground. Then one common wire that is always hot whether or not you are on high speed or low speed. You could make this a white wire. Then a black wire for your high speed that is energized in high speed and a red wire for the low speed. It is important that the high and low speeds not be energized at the same time, otherwise you will hear a very unpleasant sound coming from the motor, and failure and shortened life of the motor will be realized. Can you tell me what kind of torque a 1 1/8 hp 115 ac ge motor has?

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Not a GE but the numbers should be very close...

Load (% of horsepower) Torque (OZ-FT)
0.25 7.0
0.5 12.0
0.75 18.0
1.0 24.2
1.25 36.6

I believe what you meant was that you have a 2 speed, 1 HP high, 1/8 HP low motor…these numbers are for the high speed.
