Gamin nuvi 1450 wonot start and the gamin express cannot recognize it

Your Nuvi has to boot past the Garmin logo to the main screen before it can be recognized by your PC. Is the unit dead? The Nuvi 14xx series is well known for its problem with the rear USB port coming loose. This will prevent the unit from receiving power from the external charger and will prevent the battery from being charged. If the unit goes into a boot-up loop, displaying the Garmin logo then shuts down, this is often caused by corrupted files, such as a map or bad firmware update. See these two links for more info:

My computer dont see my nuvi 265w

Does the unit boot to the main menu? The GPS to PC communications routine is not accessible until the unit boots to the main screen,

A common problem with these units is broken connections on the rear USB port. A bad USB port may prevent the unit from charging or communicating with the PC or both.

DO the Garmin receivers work with Windows ?

Yes the Garmin DPS units do work with Windows. There should be a USB cable in the box the GPS came in. The smaller end plugs into the GPS and the larger end into one of your computer's USB ports. The GPS screen should come on and show the Garmin name. Then the Loading Maps title should show briefly. A graphic should show up on the bottom part of the screen that looks like a desktop computer connected to a GPS. A horizontal white line should then appear about half way up the GPS screen which should turn to green. You should then be able to see your GPS listed as a removable drive in Windows Explorer, or whatever file management program you use.

If you are unable to see the GPS unit there is a plug in available on their website called the Garmin Communicator Plug-in which should help you see the GPS unit in Windows or your internet browser. IF you still cannot see it then try and switch to another USB port on your computer. If you have anything already plugged into a USB port and your computer can see the item, then try and plug your Garmin into that port. If you still cannot see the unit then there may be something wrong with the unit or your cable. If you still have a warranty you may want to take your unit back to the store you purchased it from. Windows should definitely see the unit without having to load any special driver.

I have a computer and i want to know how do you charge it to a computer

If you want to know how to charge your GPS unit using your computer you can do this by simply connecting your GPS to your computer using the USB cord that should have been included with your unit. It will be a black cord with one end that should fit a USB port on your computer, and the other end will attach to the back of your GPS. Turn off your unit, then plug the smaller end into the GPS and the larger end into a USB port on your computer. Your GPS should then come on by itself. Your normal Garmin startup screen will display, and it will also display that it is loading maps. Then a graphic of a computer connected to a GPS will show on the bottom of the screen, and a white line the width of your screen will slowly change to green. The entire time you are connected your GPS will be charging. Depending on how much of your battery needs to be charged, leaving it connected for about an hour and a half should give you a full charge.

As soon as i turn on my gps it starts to boot up

I can help you reset and fix your Garmin Nuvi 265W.

Getting stuck on the flashing Garmin logo, or a message about not finding any maps, or freezing and rebooting, are indications that the firmware / system software inside your GPS has been corrupted.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi 265W running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.
