Question about Washing Machines

My washing machine cycle is over but still full of soapy water?

I have a hotpoint washer dryer WD51 first edition 1100.

It does not seem to be able to spin properly either, but that could be because of all the water in it?

I have read about cleaning the filter incase it is blocked but I know where to find it - unfortunately I no longer have the manual that goes with the machine.

Many thanks :o)

I cant get the plate at the bottom of the front of the machine off where I think the filter is. I've unscrewed the three screws but it seems to be glued on . How do I get this off?

I have the same machine and mine is unable to spin because of all the water left in it. I have checked the filter (unplug from mains, remove screws and take off back - the fat, black hose coming from the bottom of the drum is where the filter is. There is a black, circular clip keeping the hose on. Emply all the water you can from the drum first. Hold this clip with both hands and carefully move the right side up and the left hand down to open it. The hose will come off but it will probaly be full of water so put a shallow bowl under it. I have found socks in here before now!

If the motor isnt going around then open the lid now the motor is on the right hand side as you look at it now on either side of the motor there is 1 wire going to the inside of the motor these leed to a plastic casing which are your carbon brushes these will need replacing as they will be less than 8ml in length these start at about 25ml in length the way to get them out is by having some bent nosed pliers place either side of the carbon brush and squeeze now pull, pull of the wire now when replacing the new carbons have a small metal bar coming from the side push this up and make sure the carbon brush goes in and out freely they must do this replace in the opposite way from taking out this time you dont need the pliers to replce them

I find it strange that washing powder in my HOTPOINT WD51 WASHER/DRYER FIRST EDITION is only taken via the PRE WASH compartment, and the powder in the MAIN wash compartment is never used

Hi Gary from retired Englishman in SW France,

Has it 'never' worked correctly?
Pull out the dispenser drawer far enough to be able to just see the main wash tray, select the main wash and check that water is entering the tray. If it isn't either there is a fault with the water distribution and an engineer call is required OR the holes through which the water is fed are blocked and need cleaning ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Spin cycle not draining

Hi-ya Brian
Probably blocked filter.
To locate and clean, remove rear panel altogether, locate large black hose at bottom of drum, remove from drum, and you will find the filter located inside the hose.
Check drain hose is not blocked also.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Door Locked. Cannot open. Washine inside.

Try buttons "dry" & "spin" together for a few seconds. This is the child lock display.

Or press "end of cycle" for over 3 seconds.

Or press "options & select" till the light goes off.

Works for other machines..............And please rate me if helped

I have a hotpoint aquarius 1100 washer dryer wd51 was making a grinding noise we turned it off and a under wire from a bra was sticking through a hole in the drum pulled it out and it is complete but now...

The bra wire bears no relation to your present problem.
Remove top cover, screws at rear, and push top cover back.
See if the belt is still on, if it is, then select final spin and see if the motor and drum go round, if it does not, then the brushes in the motor probably need replacing.
Unplug washer, and disconnect the motor. you will find the brushes at the motor plug end, depress plastic lugs, and slide brushes out, if they are less than 5mm long, then replace them

If it is the belt that has come off, you will have to remove the rear panel to refit it.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Hotpoint WD51 fuse issue

is it the motor that got hot?, if so then check the motor carbons for wear, as these heat up when worn, also if the carbons are fine check the pump and filters for blockages, this makes the motor spin while water is still in the machine causing the motor to overheat, and subsequently tripping and blowing the fuses etc hope i have helped a little

Hotpoint Aquarius 1100 - Grinding Noise From Drum

This sounds like the min bearings have gone, open the door and see if there is any play up and down on the drum. if so its the bearing if not it could be something that has fallen from a pocket and got stuck between the metal clothes drum and the oute drum casing. a take apart job i am afraid for both issues.
