Bucket fills, doesn't stop

I have a problem with my humidifier where the bucket will fill, but the humidifier still runs. I checked the float and it is rising and the back paddle moves down which should allow the red shut off switch inside the unit to move and shut off the unit. I get water on the floor because the unit doesn't shut down and it over flows the bucket.

Why would the system keep running, all the time, filling up bucket, then leaking onto floor? What is my next step?

There is supposed to be an auto-shutoff float in the bucket to prevent overfilling of the bucket. You have either removed it or it is defective. The fact that it runs constantly has more to do with the humidity and the setting that you have the unit set to, Obviously there is adequate humidity in the space or the bucket would not fill. You need to look for, find, and repair the shut-off float, or, if possible, some units allow you to connect a drain hose either to the bucket or directly to the unit to drain the water to a drain. If you choose this option, remember that the hose must remain lower than the top of the bucket or it will not drain properly and the bucket will still overflow.

Water does not fill in the Aprilaire humidifier on my furnance

It sounds like the feed has been shut off or pluged. Be sure the feed is off, remove the feed from the humidifier. open the fill valve slowly and run water into a bucket or whatever. If it does not run you found the problem, if it does then it is probably the fill solenoid valve on the humidifier.

The unit fills but does not stop when full. It keeps running so water is spilling all over.

More than likely, the float valve in the water collection bucket is stuck in the DOWN position. There for the automatic shut off does recognize that the bucket is full. Remove the bucket and check the float valve in the top of the bucket. If it's stuck in the down position, jiggle the arm to get to return to the UP position. Be sure to turn the unit OFF & unplug it before doing the above.

Hope this helped you to solve the problem and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My model is Frig. Dehumidifier, 70 pint. model # LAD704DUL. I hooked up the hose for continuous operation, but the bucket fills up too, even though water is definitely coming out of the hose. It...

Check the float valve in the top of the bucket. It may be stuck in the UP position. If that the case, jiggle the float valve arm to get it to return to the DOWN position. That should solve the problem.

When my dehumidifier is on, it says there is 90 humidity. I come back an hour later, it is still running and no water in the bucket.

Hello,

If there's no water in the reservoir, first make sure that water is getting to the humidifier. The humidifier must have a good stream of water available to it. If there's water in the water line but the reservoir doesn't fill, replace the float mechanism inside the humidifier.

Take care.

My lg 30 is not working.

It is supposed to. There is a float that rises as the container fills. When the container is filled to capacity, the float is at its highest point and the humidfier turns off. At the same time, the red light comes on. This is normal. When you remove the container, the red light stays on b/c the float is still at its highest position. It is designed to do this so the humidifier doesn't run when the container is not installed. If the light does not turn off after you replace the container, give the humidifier a tap to move the float back.

Red light comes on for no reason. Danby DDR6588EE dehumidifier

I have a DDR4588EE (same model with 45 pint capacity) and had the exact same problem. It's caused by the float at the top of the bucket being in poor contact with the "full" detector button. When the bucket is not full, the float on the bucket is supposed to press against the button. When the bucket fills, the float is supposed to push up off the button which causes the unit to stop and the red light comes on. The problem is that for some reason, the float isn't pressing hard enough against the button to push it properly in when the bucket isn't full. I fixed it by sticking a few little squares of duct tape (3 or 4 layers) on the float to make it press the button more firmly. Seems to be working fine now. Careful not to put too much tape or it might press too firmly which would result in the float not releasing the button when the bucket is full, and water will spill over.
