Check the camera settings are not too high 320x480 or similair should be enough. Have you installed Windows Messenger live, the new MSN and tried it with that? If your'e problem persists try this problem page. http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=534&p_created=1087233145&p_sid=tDSxcPki&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PWRmbHQmcF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTQyMiZwX3Byb2RzPSZwX2NhdHM9JnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfbmwmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD13aWxsIG5vdCBpbnN0YWxs&p_li=&p_topview=1

SOURCE: Logitech quickcam driver for mac?

Hi, I found the solution to make Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX works perfectly with my imac G5 10.3.9. First I download macam and next I down load hacktvcarbon or icamshare type of program(there are many of them, some are free some are not). After that, it can record both vedio and audio. Took me couple hours but very happy! Now it works with Skype and also work as recroder. Thanks to macam support feedback! Here is the link that help me through.

SOURCE: Logitech QuickCam Communicate 5-Pack Personal Web Camera

The 5 pack webcams that claim to be Logitech units do not share a similar form and structure with the Logitech units on the Logitech website, so I am more then a little leary of assuming to much. I visited the techtree.com site that shows and sells the 5 pack units but didn't see a driver download.
The TRUE Logitech units looks like this

The 5 pack units are talked about and sold at techtree.com and priceparts.com, however what the two websites show is totally different with the priceparts units being exactly like the Logitech official units and both of those units have a different part number then you mention in your note.
Techtree doesn't show any driver downloads and I can't and will not make the dangerous assumption that the drivers made for the Official Logitech units will work with your units. So there it is, What do you think??

SOURCE: Logitech QuickCam Communicate MP - black screen

  1. Either one of these image sizes:
    • Small image size: 160 x 120
    • Large image size: 320 x 240
  2. RGB, I420, or IYUV formats. (Each is fine; we recommend RGB 24.)
  3. Microsoft DirectX version 9.0
To get this information, click here to download a Microsoft application that checks to see if your webcam device meets these requirements.
To make it easy, when you’re asked where to Save the program, just save it on your Desktop.
Once it’s downloaded, here’s what to do:
  1. Double-click the amcap.exe file on your desktop.
    • If you have more than one webcam installed, click the Devices menu and select the one you want to use.
  2. Click the Options menu, then click “Video capture Pin.”
  3. Under “Color Space/Compression:”, choose one of the following formats:
    • RGB 24 (our recommendation)
    • I420
    • IYUV
Note: If one of the options above isn’t in the list, then your webcam is not compatible with Yahoo!7 Messenger.
  4. Under “Output Size”, choose one of the following:
    • 160 x 120
    • 320 x 240
Note: If one of the options above isn’t in the list, then your webcam is not compatible with Yahoo!7 Messenger.
  5. Click OK
  6. Close the ampcap application.
  7. From your desktop, click ‘Start’ and select ‘Run’.
  8. In the run box, type: dxdiag
  9. In the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
  10. On the System Tab under ‘System Information’, look for DirectXversion. Verify that your version is DirectX 9.0. If it is, just click Exit. If your version is older than 9.0 (any lower number), click here to download the latest version of DirectX.
  11. Start the webcam from Messenger by clicking My Webcam in the Messenger menu.
Attention Logitech webcam users:
Some Logitech webcam drivers may cause one of the following problems:
  • Windows freezes when accessing the webcam
  • A black screen appears when using the webcam in Messenger
  • A ‘Webcam not found’ error message appears.
  • After 3 seconds, the sound drops out of calls made via Messenger
If you already verified that your device is compatible through the above steps and you’re a Logitech webcam user, please click here to update your Logitech webcam driver.

SOURCE: error installing Logitech Quickcam communicate MP s 5500 software

Normal 0 Did you install the software with the camera connected to the computer? Disconnect the camera from the USB port and reinstall the software. When the program asks you to connect the camera, do so, and it should work. Hope this is of some help. Bud

Below is info for setting up Audio & Video to chat on line after you install , either Skype or a messenger program.

Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud
