Description

Using the Self-timer on the EOS REBEL T3i.

Solution

The self-timer is useful when you want to photograph yourself or prevent camera shake caused when the shutter is released.
1. Set the power switch to <ON>.
2. Press < > button.
  • You can check the self-timer operation with the self-timer lamp, beeper, and countdown display (in seconds) on the LCD monitor.
  • Two seconds before the picture is taken, the self-timer lamp will stay on and the beeper will sound faster.
Attention:
With [ ], the interval between the multiple shots may be prolonged depending on the shooting functions settings such as the image-recording quality or flash.
NOTE:
  • After taking self-timer shots, you should check the image for proper focus and exposure.
  • If you will not look through the viewfinder when you press the shutter button, attach the eyepiece cover. If stray light enters the viewfinder when the picture is taken, it may throw off the exposure.
  • When using the self-timer to photograph only yourself, use focus lock on an object at about the same distance as where you will stand.
  • To cancel the self-timer after it starts, press the < > button.

If i put my camra on self timer win i print the pictures will the time show up on the pictures

The time it took the picture? You want to know if the camera will show the time it took the picture using the self timer?

My answer is Yes and No.

Do you have your camera set to showing the date and time on the pictures now? If you do, then using the self timer would not change anything.

If you do have it set to showing on the picture and you don't want the date and time to show then change the setting on the menu function of the camera and turn this option off.

If you do not already have the camera set to show the date and time, using the self timer option is not going to make it suddenly appear.

Using the self-timer
Use the self-timer when you want to be included in a picture, or to ensure a steady
Shutter button press. Place the camera on a tripod or flat surface.
1 In any picture-taking mode, press the Info button to turn on the shortcut icons.
2 Press to highlight the self-timer icon. Press to choose a setting:
10 seconds- A picture is taken after a 10-second delay (so you have time
to get into the scene).
2 seconds- A picture is taken after a 2-second delay (for a steady, shutter
release on a tripod).
2 shot- The first picture is taken after a 10-second delay. A second picture
is taken 8 seconds later.
3 Compose the scene. Press the Shutter button halfway, then completely down.
The camera takes the picture/pictures after the delay.
Use the same procedure to take a 2- or 10-second self-timer video, but press the
Shutter button completely down.

Want to shoot a timed pictures ie, a pic of myself and my sister together and me setting the camera on a timer and getting into the pic...what do I do? Don't have manual with me. I have a Canon EOS 40D

Did you know there are two firmware updates available for your camera? For a timer picture, here are the instructions: 1Press the <o> button. (
9)
2Select either <j> or <l>.
Look at the LCD panel and turn the
<5> dial to select <j> or <l>.
j:10-sec. self-timer
l:2-sec. self-timerN
3Take the picture.
Focus the subject and press the
shutter button completely.
The picture will be taken after the
self-timer delay elapses.
You can check the self-timer
operation with the self-timer lamp,
beeper, and countdown display (in
seconds) on the LCD panel.
Two seconds before the picture is
taken, the self-timer lamp will stay on
and the beeper will sound faster.
Do not stand in front of the camera when you press the shutter button to
start the self-timer. Doing so will throw off the focus.

Trying to figure out how to use the timer on my Nikon Coolpix S570

Press the self-timer button (left of OK).

Press up or down to choose either two second or ten second delay.

Frame the picture and press the shutter release halfway to set focus and exposure.

Press the shutter button the rest of the way. The self-timer starts, the remaining number of seconds shows on the display, and the self-timer lamp blinks.

After the picture is taken, the self-timer reverts to OFF.

To cancel the self-timer, press the shutter release button again.

Fuller details can be found in the manual under "Taking Pictures with the Self-timer."

Does camera have timer

Putting Yourself in the Picture The Self Timer creates a 10-second delay between the time you press the Shutter button and the time the picture is taken. 1 Place the camera on a flat surface or use a tripod. 2 In any Still mode, press the Self Timer button. The Self Timer icon appears in the status area. 3 Compose the scene. Then press the Shutter button half-way and hold to set the exposure and focus, then press the rest of the way down. Move so that you are in the scene. The Self Timer light blinks slowly for 8 seconds (then quickly for 2 seconds) before the picture is taken. The camera "clicks" when the picture is captured. To turn off the shutter sound, see page 64. The Self Timer turns off after you take the picture or if you change modes. To cancel the Self Timer before the picture is taken, press the Self Timer button. (The Self Timer setting remains active.) To turn off the Self Timer, press the Self Timer button twice.

I wanna take a picture but i dont know how to make the camara wait 10 sec before it takes the picture

Hi,

Self-timer shooting:

This function lets you take pictures using the self-timer.
Fix the camera securely on a tripod for self-timer shooting. This function is useful for taking
pictures when you want to be included in the photograph.

1 Select [ON], and press Z.
2 Press the shutter button fully to
take the picture.
• Pressing the shutter button halfway
locks the focus and exposure.
• The self-timer lamp lights for
approximately 10 seconds, then starts
blinking. After blinking for approximately
2 seconds, the picture is taken.
• To stop shooting while in n mode,
press the shutter button fully again.
• To cancel the self-timer, press Z.
• The self-timer mode is automatically canceled after one shot.

Note:
• If sequential shooting is attempted in self-timer mode, the camera shoots 5
frames at most regardless of the setting.

Hope my info fixes your problem,
Thanx for using fixya,
cheers.

Self Timer Operation

Easy, in camera mode, push the menu/ok button, use the left and right arrows to display the self timer mode. There are only 3 options on the menu. (self timer, cont, option). Once self timer is on the screen, use the up arrow to pick a short or long self timer.

Once it is set, compose your picture and press the release button as normal, the self timer will do the rest
