My computer is on and everything is plugged in but my monitor will not turn on. I have done everything I can think of and still nothing.

camariqqic, Your E172FP is older than dirt!!! Look at the "date of manufacture" on rear of unit. If unit is connected to a "live" 120v ac outlet, it should work. If E172 had a nice bright, clear and crisp display of text and graphics you may need to visit YOUTUBE for some video clips that will show you how to disassemble, inspect and possibly DIY repair the unit so you can get 1-3 more years service out of it. Do your research here at fixya and follow all links you find in the profiles of "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie" If you deem unit as too old, and your really not into the soldering of parts to printed circuit boards, then just buy new 16 x 9 wide screen unit. Let us tech's here at fixya know what your intentions are??? 12fixlouie

My monitor sync master 540n when i want to use it not come display again keep in on position for half an hour it comes what is the problem

kalyanaramud, Not problem... only poor quality factory soldering of internal electronic components to circuit boards!!!!! 6000 to 10000 "on" / "off" cycles should not cause this problem!!! Inspect the units "switch-mode-power-supply / inverter board for the 1 and 1 only bad solder joint, resolder it and unit should function properly. Let me know what you find when you do inspection of unit. Document work with digital pic's of every step. Notify brand name of filter capacitors inside unit on SMPS / inverter board. 12fixlouie

Samsung digital quad soq-080n security system, no display, only blinking light. Suspect unit in power saving mode.

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for:
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Picture is not displaying in the monitor.

Please look here:
It is common problem with this model, poor/contaminated solder joints. It can cause the transistors to go out also. You must remove the old solder, clean the inductor leads real well and then resolder. I fixed close to hundred of this model. There was recalled by HP because of many failed units out there, but it is too old now.

Ned to find the right adapters and drivers to fix poor display

This monitor albiet old can do a whooping 1800 x 1440 resolution. I don't think that the monitor is your problem at this point but your Video card. What type of video card do you have in your system and are the drivers correctly installed for them. You can find the drivers for the monitor at

Non crispy display

Six to seven years is about the usual life of a picture tube, and then you start seeing signs of aging. Poor focus is one common symptom (the loss of crispness you noticed). There is an internal focus adjustment, but it usually can't compensate for the tube. If you want to try it, the control is on a part called the flyback transformer. It's usually found on a rear corner of the circuit board, and has a red wire going to a rubber contact cap on the picture tube. Most flybacks have two little knobs on them, and you want to tweak the one marked "FOCUS" a little to see if improves the picture. BE VERY CAREFUL! WITH THE POWER ON THERE ARE POSSIBLY LETHAL VOLTAGES EXPOSED!

If the focus adjustment doesn't help enough, it's time to look for a sale on an LCD monitor. The prices have come way down, and eBay is a great place to look for deals if you don't want to buy new.

Poor image quality

hotoPC 650 captures images in 24-bit color (16.7 million colors). Your pictures will not display maximum image quality if your monitor or computer's video controller doesn't support this color depth. Additionally, if your pictures are taken in 1154 x 864 mode, try increasing your video resolution above 640 x 480. You may need to upgrade your system to achieve the best possible image quality. If your pictures look better on the screen than when you print them out, you may need to upgrade your printer. An EPSON Stylus ink jet printer, for example, provides excellent image quality. If you used drag and drop to insert your pictures, they may appear grainy. Try importing them into your documents instead.
