Actually i just bought a camera Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F717 Digital Camera and while travelling i forgot to close the zip if my hand bag and unfortunately the camera fell from the bag from around 40 cm fromthe ground and now its not switching on. the fact that insurance does not cover it so i dont know wat to do. the symptoms are that obly when i insert the battery i find a red light lighting and sometimes the right handside if the camera heats a very llittle bit thats all please help me and tell me what to do as the sony representative here in Mauritius said that they cant repair this default. send ur precious help on [email protected]
thanks so much
Could it be that they said it was too expensive to repair?
Anything can be repaired but not always below the cost of a new one.
If this is what they told you it might be due to a main board failure, which really is too expensive to repair.
A 40cm fall does not normally cause this much damage though?
Is there any damage to the casing of the camera?
Can you see the lens unit trying to move inside when you switch it on?
Have you tried resseting the camera at the button located in the batttery compartment?
Does the camera make the welcome sound at all?
Answer these questions and I might beable to to give you more help.
