Did you check the orifice inside the supply water tube? Sometimes the orifice can come loose and allow to much water inside the humidifier.

SOURCE: There is no water going

Hello, first thing is check is the strainer going into the solenoid valve for sediment, if there is clean the strainer and reinstall. If the strainer in clean the check if you are getting 24 volts to the solenoid valve, if you have voltage and the solenoid does not let the water thru replace the solenod valve.

The unit leaks water on the floor

you need to replace the pad every season. if you are using a generic pad maybe more often. it also must be level and the drain coming off bottom clear. i suggest getting pads from aprilaire.com . not the generic from hardware store. also if its got a black feed tube going from the solinoid valve to the top of the humidifier pad you may want to replace that aswell, they have been known to crack the new ones are grey.

Water runs out of the bottom of the unit

Check your plastic water orifice. It is in the hose fitting connected to the outlet tube of the water solenoid. It should be a blue one. Mine was completely eaten through, allowing full water flow, and thus overflowing the distribution tray. I replaced mine yesterday and no more water drips. May as well reflace the filter on the inlet tube of the solenoid at the same time. I used a piece of very stiff, but thin, wire formed into a small hook to remove both old parts. Replacements are readily available from multiple sources on line.

The Aprilaire is leaking around the casing attached to furnace

How old is the filter? Filters should be replaced every year. If its a new filter check to make sure the little hose is inside the hole at the tom of the filter.

My 7142 leaks

There are a few hose connections inside the unit related to the heater element. Water flows from the reservoir down into the unit, takes a turn into a tube with the heater element wrapped around it, then turns back up into the mister area. Any of the four connections (base to first elbow, elbow to heater tube, heater tube to second elbow or second elbow to base) could be leaking.
The white ring around the mister disk cracked on my unit, letting water leak out the bottom as you describe... Take a close look at that.
It's also possible the base itself is cracked somewhere... Look closely at the mister and reservoir areas of the base for cracks.

Need to find a new water tank

Mine also cracked along the seam several years ago. I sealed the crack using two-part waterproof plastic epoxy (found at any hardware store.) Not really pretty to look at, but it hasn't leaked since!

Water dripping from unit

if the water panel needs to be replaced , this can happen. instead of going through the panel , water will run on the outside of the panel and drip through the seems on the humidifier cover. make sure the plastic hose that goes into the water panel is inserted into the water panel.

Filling humidifier

On the Vicks v-3100 the water tank should lift off of the unit. Flip it over and there is a lid. Open the lid and fill the tank. Once you've filled it back up, put the lid back on. Flip the tank over to make sure there are no leaks, then put it back on the humidifier.

Note: It's very important to check to make sure the tank isn't leaking before you put it back on the humidifier, if it is, it will flood the reservoir, in turn causing water to leak out of the bottom of the humidifier (which is one of the major complaints about the 3100).
