TI-85 Display Has Missing Lines

I've had my TI-85 for a while, but recently, a few horizontal lines on the LCD display grid do not light up. This makes reading the display difficult. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this problem, or better yet, how to attempt a fix? Thanks.

Thought that maybe it just needed new batteries, but even after fresh batteries there are several missing horizontal lines on the display screen that make it hard to read.

I have the same problem. But Instead of missing lines, it's a black or dark grey spot that didn't leave me see what's on display. How can I fix it?

same problem here, interestingly so that i have had this calculator since '93 and just recently i am finding others havingthis exact problem...design issue?

I think, though, the next step is to try to find the sam lcd or similar from jameco, or other supplier.

Have u ever modded it? it can (and probably will)damage the screen (graphics driver)

Bad Tcon board or panel...if its the panel the set can't be repaired

Horizontal lines have appeared on the screen what has caused this and can I get rid of the lines.

The LCD in the viewfinder likely has connection problems or broken circuits. Did you drop it recently? Was it subject to extreme temperature etc recently? You may find the lines shift around or even go away for some time. That would imply bad connections. If your technical enough to disassemble it, there is often a rubberised connector use between the LCD and circuit board that can be cleaned. It's delicate work tho.

I can not get the horizontal lines to appear on my graph. I have turned the grid on but only the vertical lines show up.

Open the Window configuration utility and change the value of the Yscl parameter. It may be too large for the range of the function you are displaying (Ymin to Ymax)

Probably not, many digital cameras have the option to display grid lines on the display to make it easier to frame your pictures. Look in your camera manual to see if you can turn grid lines on or off.

Grid lines can help you frame horizontal pictures (like a landscape).

TI-82 display isn't fully working

This happens alot with calculators that have been in storage for a while, you can fix this by taking the batteries out and let it sit overnight.

Some lines on the screen are missing

tere are problems with your´s calculator display you need to take apart screws and carefull apart display, and then clean with isopropilic alcohol, arm display again and probe befor cover them, it´s ok close the cover if not repeat till the problem was solved

What is the focusing screen display?

There are two display modes newly added for the DiMAGE 7i, grid and scale. The grid mode is to show a grid over the entire screen. This makes it easy to align the camera to objects vertically or horizontally. In the scale display mode, horizontal and vertical lines cross at the image center to divide the view to four sections, and each axis is scaled. This function is useful for close-up photography. The grid or scale on display is not recorded.
