I had the same problem. LG came and fixed it in about an hour. Replaced the circuit board with an updated one and swapped out some sensor. Seems to work now and it was all under the 2 year warranty.

You are both right , it could be either problem. could also be a bad fan motor or main board ***'y. if the unit isn't defrosted (check for heavy frost on back wall of Freezer), it is likely the defrost control which is a thermal cutout and Defrost terminator in the same package. raedily available from any LG repair facility. I stock them and can get replacement parts in 1 day.

You have to look at the unit and see what it is telling you. All of this units have error codes, some are in the form of letters and others are through the lights in the display. The most common is to have 567 on. This is telling you that it can't go into defrost. You need to get the control assembly replaced, big name for a thermal fuse. Runs around the $20 mark.

It's all in the controls. There is a "flapper" or door between the freezer compartment and the fresh food compartment. Other than the fan not operating, there is nothing else that would affect the temperature. The higher you set your freezer, the warmer the fresh food compartment will be. As long as your freezer is working, and you can hear the fan turn on, it's a control issue.

The refriderator is not cooling properly but the freezer is freezing

A defrost system problem could be preventing the refrigerator from cooling properly. If you do see excessive frost on the evaporator in the freezer, you may be able to restore proper cooling in the refrigerator by storing your food in an ice chest and then shutting off the refrigerator/freezer and letting the unit completely defrost for about 24 hours. Leave the doors open for air circulation. After the frost on the evaporator has defrosted, plug the unit back in and see if the refrigerator and freezer will cool properly.
If there is still same problem then you need to replace evaporator fan.

Hope this helps.

FREEZER FREEZERS BUT THE REFIGERATOR WONT GET COLD

Hi,

Check the air return on the bottom left wall of the refrigerator side. Check for cold air flow at the top of the refrigerator when the compressor is running. If you feel no air flow, open the freezer door and see if you detect significantly more air flow after opening the freezer door. This could indicate a return air flow restriction and make sure that there no blocking of air vent at the top of refrigerator section that supplies the cold air from the freezer.Check the door seal gasket on the refrigerator for leaks.
If the vents and air flow paths in the refrigerator are proper, then check the back wall of the freezer for excessive frost. Our Sharp refrigerator model SJ-F60PC. 4 doors, freezer at the bottom and fridge at top. The fridge section is not cold although the freezer section is working fine. Much appreciated if anyone can help!

Your defroster timer switch may be at faught. The defrost timer turns on a heating coil to defrost your frige. This is only a guess since I don't have the year. Do this: feel the walls if they are hard and they have no give to them, then your fridge is frozen up solid and no air can circulate. Unplug you fridge for 24 to 36 hours. Put towels on the floor to catch the water. If the defrost timer is bad it will defrost naturally with room temp. Plug back in after 24 to 36 hrs and see if bottom is now getting cold. If it is the defrost timer, the solution is not cheap. It's up to you to repair or invest in new. Good luck Google burdfrenzy

The refrigerator is not cooling properly. Two small vents on the inside wall. one is producing cool air the other is not. The freezer works fine.

The bottom is not cooling, the freezer is cold. There doesn't seem to be any air flowing into the bottom portion

Refrigerator is not cold (50);freezer is working; vents not blocked. What can I do? Fan is working, & compressor does kick on.

Nine out of ten times it turns out to be a defrost issue. What most people dont understand is the refrigerator gets its cool air from the freezer. If the evaporator coil in the freezer becomes a block of ice then the airflow from freezer to fridge section is blocked. The block of ice along with already frozen foods in the freezer compartment help to keep those foods frozen. Therefore you assume the freezer section is fine. However, the lack of cool airflow to the fridge side quickly turns that 38 degree air into 50 degree air. You could try unplugging the fridge and leaving doors open for 24 hours, this will thatw the evap coil. Plug it back in after the 24 hours, and within 12-24 hrs everything should be cool. If the fridge continutes to cool for about 3-6 days and then fails again, you certainly have a defrost problem. This is long winded, but hope it helps

KitchenAid Refridgerator won't get cool - freezer works great - Ice maker won't run either. What's up? Also, the model wasn't listed below - it is a KitchenAid with Freezer on top/ fridge below.

when this happens in a side by side, the first thing i look for is frost on the back wall op fht e freezer, if its there, your not geting proper air circulation
unplug the machine for 24 hours this will clear the ice
\check your freezer fan for proper ops, if its working you may need service to determine whats wrong with your defrost

Bottom Freezer working but not side!

Typically the freezer air is circulated into the frige area to provide cooling. If the circ. fan is not working or the air ducts/channels/dampers are blocked with ice, food, etc. then no cool air will get from the freezer to the frige area. Check all the air channels and to see if the dampers are open along with the circulation fan running. The diagrams at the following link should help you see inside better. If your lower circulation fan is running then you likely have an air return/supply channel blocked with ice and will require an old style defrost (unplug unit and leave doors open for 24 hours to melt ice, etc.). If the fan isn't running then that needs to be replaced. Air channels can freeze up if a door is left open slightly overnight or other moisture enters the freezer/frige. http://www.partselect.com/MultiModels.aspx?ModelNum=ER6AHKXPQ&searchTerm=&RefineSearch=0
