GE Profile Door Panel started going off and on. Now water and ice are locked.

The chime on the door panel started going off and on with no pattern - some time many times in a row and then once every few minutes. When it chimes - it locks the water and ice until it decides to chime again and unlock. We changed the filter. After that the chime went off locking and unlocking the panel - now everything is locked up. But the chime isn't going off.

    So how can I replace door harness.

  • Brad Brown Mar 10, 2014

    Another thing to check is the water overflow tray in the door. IF water gets under it, it can short out or corrode the cables there.

SOURCE: Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

http://www.repairclinic.com/0100_1.asp
There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

SOURCE: GE Profile side by side fridge - water dispenser doesn't work

More than likely, your water line is freezing up in the door. You can remove all of the ice cubes and lower the freezer temp to about 3. Leave the freezer door open for about 5 minutes or so and if this does not work, leave the door open a little longer. Also, disconnect the water line at the base of the freezer door, near the floor, and press the dispenser lever. If you have water there, you most likely have a frozen line in the door. Changing the water filter often will help but it is not the answer and is can get quite expensive. By the way, Make sure to hold the dispenser lever forward for at least a couple of minutes each time you test for water flow. If you do not get water at the connector at the base of the door after you have disconnected the line, you have a problem with the valve in the back of the refrigerator.

I have a GE Profile refrigerator that will not dispense water or ice. The panel and light work and when you try to get ice or water it does nothing. No noise either. It is model # PFSS6PKW

When both ice and water do not work it is usually related to the door / light switch failing. Check the door switch by depressing the plunger and see if the compartment light goes out. If it oes not go out the switch has failed. WITH POWER REMOVED the switch is removed by using a thin knife blade to release the single locking tab on one side of the switch. The switch had 3 terminals
C = Common
NC= Light
NO= water and ice.

You should read continiuty (resistance)
from C to NC plunger extended
from C to NO plunger depressed.

If this switch is good then there is a problem with door hinge wiring or control panel wiring.
My bet the door switch has failed.

There are 12 models of this french door refrigerator.

How do i reset codes on ice/water dispenser. Code button is locked

Try first reseting the refrigerator by unplugging it for 30 minutes. That should reset it. Let me know if it doesn't, you might have a bad control panel otherwise.

GE Profile refrigerator panel on front has stopped responding to requests for ice. It give water, but no ice. Any ideas on what is needed?

Yes, we will need to check the wiring from the motherboard to the dispenser controls. Also we need to test the door switch. The door light switch works two ways by turning on light when open and turning on dispenser controls when closed. Sometimes the door switch is bad. I have a link and will work with you to solve this, Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Loud humming noise coming from freezer

I believe what is happening, is your Evap fan has some build-up of ice on it. The reason it stops when you open the door, is the Evap fan cuts off. The Evap fan starts back up when the door is closed. What you'll need to do, is open the freezer door, and remove the back panel of the freezer. This takes some 1/4 inch screws and a couple Phillips I believe. Once you get the panel off you'll be able to see if there is any ice build-up on the Evap fan. If need, be take a hair-dryer on medium or low, and melt the ice off of it. This should solve your problem.

The ice will not dispense from GE profile sid by

The problem could be as simple as the door switch for the lights because the door switch when closed turns the control panel on. Or the problem may be the control board. WR55X129 Control Board Thanks, Sea Breeze

GE Profile making knocking noises at different times

I have the GE profile Refrigerator with ice maker in the refrigerator compartment. Mine was knocking loudly for long periods of time, so I finally removed the icemaker by removing the side panel in the icemaker compartment held with 1 phillips head screw, disconnecting the electrical plug (unclip), pulling the tab of the icemaker down (on top) and sliding it toward the door, thus removing it. There was ice frozen in the motor compartment that was the problem. I let it thaw out and re-installed. All was OK after that..
