Monitor problem. Monitor comes on for about a second and then goes dark at startup or cycling power switch. Turn power off, then back on ...same brief normal screen---then dark.. please help! frustrated.

Your monitor's power supply is probably bad. If your inclined, you can pry apart the monitor shell and replace any bulged capacitors you see on the power supply. Replacement capacitors are available from mouser.com.

hold the power button for 5 sec : if the picture appears replace the button. ELSE check the chimic capacitor if damadged replace with new

If the power light turns yellow, there is no signal being received by the monitor from your computer's graphics card. The screen will shut off (go into idle mode), which is a low-power state, that saves energy. Check that the cable on the back of your computer is plugged into the right graphics card (many PCs come with more than one, these days). There may be one built into the computer's mainboard, and another one may be on a separate graphics card located somewhere else on the machine. Only one of these will work on startup. If one doesn't work, try the other.

Replacing unit under warranty.

Possible that the HV inverter or the CFL tubes are going bad / defective. I suggest to bring the unit to an authorized Acer service center for proper check-up / test & fix the problem. regards

Take a look at the capacitors and see if you have any weak one. An obvious way to spot one would be one bubbled up on top. A bad cap won't always be bubbled up. The monitor probably can operate until the voltage drops under 8 volts. Also possible if power supply check out good would be a weak backlight inverter.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.
