Wiring How to wire this switch ? Do I put the black wire to the peer coming in fro breaker, red to red and yellow to black from my 14/3 wire?

Technical Documentation Support Overview

On the support page choose the SFSQ-LF info and open the PDF download. The black on the fan unit goes to the black feed from the box. the Red on the unit goes to the light. The Yellow goes to the Fan.

Leviton PR180 is a single-pole or 3-way motion activated light switch.

The green connects to bare ground wire.
The yellow-red is not used EXCEPT to replace 3-way switch. Cap off yellow-red wire when wiring single-pole.

Your single pole switch has two black wires.
One black wire is Hot from breaker, and the other black wire goes to Load.
Turn power on, and test each black wire to bare copper wire. Tester lights up on Hot wire.

Hot wire connects to PR180 black wire.
Load wire connects to RR180 red wire

I have power in 14/2 and 14/2 out to light. how do I wire the switch. I tried putting whites together and blacks to switch but it doesn't work.


Your breaker is not tripped.
Your light bulb is working.
You have a working on-off switch that has two brass screws and a green ground screw.
That is a single pole switch. Black wires go on either brass-colored screw, and whites are twisted together.
If switch has 3 screws and ground screw, connect black wires to dark-screw and one of the brass screws.

First you should test your wires.
You have 2 cables.
Both cables have black, white, and bare copper ground wires.
One cable goes to light.
Other cable comes from breaker box.

Cable from breaker box has black-hot wire and white-neutral wire.
Turn on power and test black wire to white, and then test black wire to ground.
Tester should light up with both tests.
If tester does not light up, then breaker is suspect, or there is a short in nearby box.
Track back the short towards breaker, going one box at a time, each time testing black to white and black to ground.

Next, inside the switch box, remove the switch and connect both cables without the switch.
Black to black
White to white
Turn on power, does light turn on.
If light turns on, your switch is suspect. Connect new switch. One black wire to each brass screw, and then tie white wires togethr.
If light does not turn on, your light is suspect. Open light fixture and test black to white and black to ground again.

If light tests with power, then check your bulb
If light has no power, then wire between switch box and light is suspect.

I think you mean that you need to wire a set of three way switches. That is when you have a switch at two locations to run the same load (lights for example). Without being able to draw a picture, I will try to explain this the best I can. You have probably 120 volts coming in on a 14-2 romex for a 15 amp circuit or a 12-3 romex for a 20 amp circuit consisting of a black, white, and a bare wire. You run that set of wires to one of the two switches. Then from that switch you need to run a type of 3-wire cable from that switch to the other. For example:14-3 romex for a 15amp. circuit or 12-3 romex for a 20 amp circuit. Do not reduce wire size if you start with 12 gauge wire coming in from the breaker. Then you again run a piece of 12-2 or 14-2 (depending again on the amp circuit you are running) from the second switch to the load or lights that the switches are serving. Now for terminating the wires. In both switch boxes you just connect the white wires together with a wire nut. The bare wires you also connect together with a wire nut, but also twist a short piece of bare wire in the wire nut. That tail will serve as your jumper to the green screw on the switch. Then all you should have left in each box is two black wires and a red wire. These three wires all go to the switch. On the switch you should have three screws on the sides. One is darker than the other two. That darker screw gets the black from the 14-2 or 12-2. Then all thats left is the black and the red that come from the 14-3 or 12-3. Those two go to the remaining two screws on the switch. It does not matter which one either goes on. That should do it now you just wire the light like you would any other.

Need to hook this up to a lutron eco-t528-277-2 ballast which only has a hot,dimmed hot and neutral


If I understand correctly, you have Leviton florescent dimmer

And you want to connect dimmer to Lutron ECO-series ballast

This is the ballast with 3 wires: Hot dimmed, Neutral and Hot

Here's how to do it:
Dimmer yellow-red is not used except for 3-way switch >> cap it off with wire nut
Dimmer orange wire connects to ballast Dimmed Hot
Dimmer red wire connects to ballast Hot
Dimmer white wire connects to ballast Neutral

Those are your wires going to ballast. As you can see, you need 3 wires going to florescent fixture

Next, let's focus on Dimmer:
Dimmer green wire goes to bare ground wire
Dimmer black wire connects to Hot from breaker box (we'll test for that next)
Finally the Dimmer white wire connects to ballast Neutral as discussed above BUT is also has to connect to Neutral from breaker box

This means the Dimmer white wire is connected to 2 wires >> one wire goes to florescent fixture and the other wire comes from breaker box


So which wires come from breaker box??
It should be a black and white wire.
Let's test to find Hot and Neutral that come from breaker box.

Mark your wires.
Disconnect all the wires and separate from each other
Turn on power
Use ordinary tester
Tape tester leads to wood sticks so hands stay away from electricity
Power is on
Test each wire to bare copper wire
When tester lights up, that is Hot from breaker box ... this wire connects to Dimmer black wire
Now, test the hot wire to each of the other wires
When tester lights up, that is Neutral wire ... this wire connects to Dimmer white wire, and also connects to Ballast neutral.

Connect one wire at a time, and it will work.

I need to wire my DJ-20 Jointer back to 230 and I don't have schematic Suggestions?


Assuming you have a standard dual-voltage single-phase motor, your wire colors should be:

T1 - Blue
T2 - White
T3 - Orange
T4 - Yellow
T5 - Black
T8 - Red

For 220V wiring, you want:

Line 1 (to Black wire from switch):
Blue
Black

Line 2 (to White wire from switch):
Yellow

Tied together with a wire tie:
Red
Orange
White

This should make it so the shaft spins counter-clockwise. If you need it to spin the other direction, switch the red and black wire from the motor.

Cut generator into 230 volt water pump system


I would double check the wiring at water pump to verify the operating voltage and that the red,black and yellow are wired as you think and make sure you double check the wiring to the generator and verify the voltages of the unit with it running before you shut it off and make your final connections.Make sure youe your ground/neutrals are correct first the wire the hot leads.

On a Honda CB550K, wiring would be:
  • blue - from ignition coil to contact breaker;
  • yellow - from ignition coil to contact breaker;
  • black/white - to the ignition coils from the emergency switch (engine off);
  • red - from the center fuse of the fuse bank to the ignition switch;
  • black - ignition +12 from ignition switch;
  • black/red - I don't recall a black/red wire on the harness.
