I recently installed CUPS. At first everything looked good, the server started and i was able to add printers with the browser or KDE-Control center.
I tried to add an Epson Stylus C86, which is connected at my USB Port. It really looked good too, cups automatically found the printer on the usb-port and suggested the right driver. I added it, configured it and tried to print a test page.
The job was added correctly in the queue but nothing happened. it was just pending there.
I took a look at the error log but there wasnt anything suspicious, so i set the logging level to debug and tried again. After reading through that (now very long) log again, i still wasnt able to find anything false or any error.
Im a bit clueless now, no errors, smooth install and no signs of anything wrong. OR

Hi Violet,
There might be a number of reasons due to which your documents get stuck in a printer queue. Overloading and driver issues are the major reason behind this. If you are simultaneously printing hundred of documents then sometimes your printer jobs gets stuck in the printer queue. Then if your Printer drivers are corrupted then also while printing the documents sometimes it might get stuck in the print queue. If You Still Need Assistance Then Follow US For On : Epson Printer Support

HP LaserJet 4100 for all applications in windows 7. When I go to print a document and click on print. The print screen exits, the print job doesn't processes, and the print queue stays empty. Noth

I have Windows 7 and I found that running troubleshoot on the printer works most of the time and keeps me from having to shut everything down.

Go to
  • Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers
  • In the upper left of the window select File
  • In the drop down list select Troubleshoot
This usually fixes the problem, really empties the printer queue, and I don't have to shut everything down.

Cancelled a job and it stays in queue

Cancel all the documents in the print queue, (just do it whether they are actually deleted or not), press "cancel" on button the printer and restart your system and also the printer. If possible, please leave the printer switched off for few minutes and don't forget to use the "Power" button to turn if off or on. This will help your printer to restart new print job, all the jobs on the print queue will be deleted/cleared. Good luck, Thanks for using FixYa.

HP P1005 PRINT JOB SITS IN QUE, WO'T PRINT

Does it show "Printing" or "Spooling" in the job queue window?

Open the Job queue window, then highlight and cancel the print job. Send a small print job to the printer and make sure that the PC and the printer are communicating.

If the failure re-occurs, then clear the queue again and close it and restart i=the queue.
