Compatible TVs Hi, My 15 year old JVC television has finally called it a day, and I need a new one. I cannot find my op manual for the logitech harmony 550 remote device I have, and want to know how to select a tv that is compatible with the device. I currently have a Sony receiver, a Samsung dvd/video player, two Bose speakers, and a Wii player connected to the remote. I'm not a "techie" and am most interested in ease of set-up and operation. How can I select an tv that is compatible? Thank you!!

warranty requirements , on hidden defects.
no defects are expected within 4 years for just domestic use.
call your dealer , write to the importer, about the fault its not a JVC point to make products for only 2 years lifetime.

Your TVs power supply regulator section has got some trouble with it, that is why power indicator doesn't light up. You have purchased it only fourteen days back, surely there will be warranty for it. Do not open the TV. The company will give no concession if the set is opened. Send it to the authorised service center and get it repaired. Some power supply faults may fatal, and may have to spend more. Since your TV is a new model, spare part availability in the open market may be difficult. Send it to them and let them do the work. OK.

how old is the lamp , if is about a year old need a newone

Unfortunately, JVC service manuals are not usually available outside of Authorized service centers. That being said,anyone that services TVs should have seen similar symptoms on other sets and should be able to "fix" this one even without a schematic. Call around. In the meantime, I'll look into this a bit more.

You will need a new CRT ( Blue Gun) they are fairly exspensive unless you can find one used. let me know if you need more assistance.

Go and do yourself the biggest favour. Get a universal remote called a Logitech Harmony. It will cost about the same, probably even less then the original remote, and there is nothing it cannot control.

You connect it to the internet at Logitechs site, and you program it all very simply. They are awsome remotes, and can control upto 15 different devices as well.

Logigitechs site is HERE and you should be able to find it at your local Electrical or Hi-Fi shop.

How old is this TV?
My experiance is to not put money into a TV that is over ten years old. TVs stress out their electronic components worse than almost any other electronic product. After 10 years, there are so many parts that are ready to fail that your are probably wasting your money trying to get any more life out of it.
Another option is to wholesale replace the main board from an outfit like Module Exchange at 972-298-1212
Be careful on buying a new one though. Often times, these new technology ones are much worse. Always Google the model number of the set you intend to buy and add the word 'repair' or 'complaint' to see if it is one of the many models that are customer service nightmares being produced by even the most reputable companies today.
