THANK YOU. for those of you with a screw driver, here are the photos on how to.

It takes a philips screw driver and 20 minutes. The white screws may not align perfectly but don't worry, just get them to go back in the hole(no harm done).

I'm going to admit it was my wife that found this fix, so now I give the step by step photos.

Unscrew the lint trap (turn to the left)return when clean to hand tight

The most likely cause of your problem is the lid switch.

I removed the three screws, and lower cover cleaned the few pennies, screws and nasty gunk build up from the filter. The wash machine seems to function as it did prior to the clogged issue. Thank you everyone !!!

7 blinks DOES indicate a problem with the lid switch.
Replace the switch, and inspect the wiring for cracks/wear.

Can you hear the motor spinning?
Is there black plastic chunks under the washer?
What is the model #?

Washer wont spin
Check belt. If belt is ok then unplug machine for 2 minutes. Plug back in and open and close lid 7 times slowly. This will reset the electronic motor.

GE WASHER WJRR4170G0WW-SPIN Cycle does not work- just make sound.
My washer is 2 years old and this is 1/2 the cost I paid for it new. My review of this product after 35 years of technical experience; GE products (Hotpoint)aren't worth buying any longer.

The problem is the Motor. There is an electronic PC Board attached to the top of the motor and under the drip protector, which protects the PC Board. On this board, there is a green flashing light which displays trouble codes by flashing. Unplug the washer, remove the 3 screws from behind the control panel. Slowly pull the control panel toward you and slide it to the right to release. Inside the washer, there is a diagram with the trouble codes printed in the lower right hand corner. Everything else is self explained. Flashes indicate the problem and the solution is all written. Since I have the same problem and a technician, this is a defective product GE has discontinued and re-manufactured. After phoning GE the motor # Normal 0 WH20X10051 cost $252.25 to ship to my location.

Tub spins while in wash cycle
suspect what ge call a mode shifter pull front panel off by sliding putty knife along edge at each side and pressing clips front comes right off look on motor for a flashing green light (washer must be in operation) there are 2 wires in a single plug on motor these run back to transmission area with a volt/ohm meyer unplug and ck between the wires for continuity should be roughly 90 ohms if bad will not show any continuity
