You could try the SSC service utility, not sure if your model is supported but you can check the site. otherwise you need to purchase a chip resetter (ebay)

SSC utility is used for resetting waste ink counter, not for ink level counter (chip at ink tank). If you wish to reset ink level counter (chip), you must use hardware resetter, or use CISS chip with autoreset function.

The SSC utility can't reset any of the modern Epson printers chips, only the waste ink protection counters. For the fill level chip you will need a chip resetting tool, which you can buy very cheaply on EBay - have a look at these:

SSC can't reset ink level. Printer read ink level counter in chip, not actually. Use chip with autoreset function.

If you are trying to reset the ink cartridge chip, you can't do it for this printer with the ssc utility - you need to get a chip resetting tool - these are very cheap to buy on e-bay.

If you are trying to reset the waste ink level, the counter you need to reset using the ssc utility is the "Protection Counter". Once you have reset this, turn the printer off and back on and it will be working again.

Check your reference book[on the Cd] to try to determine the cause of the particular error. If you have used ssc[righ click on the icon in the tool bar] and thern reset all. Also take a look at www.fixyourownprinter,com and type Epson stylus C86 in the search bar.
