Hello,
I got an sony dsc-h3 since 1and1/2 year now , and I don't use it every day.
last tuesday ,I wanted to shoot some pictures and I took it with me.
THE PROBLEM:
when I click the power button, the "power" green led lights on , the led screen lights up, the Sony logo appears in the middle, and after that
nothing happens.
then I clicked on the power button to stop the unit , the power green led goes off but the screen with SONY logo stays on , so the dsc-h3 stays under power,
so I clicked another time the power button, the green led lights on again.
so I clicked several times the power button but except the lightning on or off of the green led, nothing occurs, the unit stays under power.
so the only solution I find is to take off the battery, and the screen lights off.
I change the battery, put a fresh one well charged , and the same problem occurs.
I try the battery remove process several times but except the green led lighning and the SONY logo ligthning on the screen nothing moves.
the digital camera stays freezed.
!!!!!!!!!!! THE SONY DSC-H3 DOES'NT WANT TO START !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to tell that I never let it fall and never use it under severe conditions as heavy sunlight or rain.
could someone help me
your help would be welcomed
CHARLES

try this it works for lens problems like you describe ]]]
OK you are probably going to think I am loony giving you this advise But No I am completely sane!
Get a can of compressed air OR acces to a compressor at your local garage Get them to fit the triggered air blower tool to it.
Blow around the lens in all the extension joins the firmly slap it in the palm of you hand with the side of the camera making contact with you palm. Do the procedure two or 3 times and inbetween the slaps turn it on to activate the lens mechanism. I have now fixed about 80 of these cameras with this method. I obtained the fix from Sony who charge $90 to do exactly the same. Keep at it as it will eventually work. One tip, make sure the battery is charged before you do this.
let me know if this worked for you Cheers

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, chances are that your batteries need to be replaced because they're just too worn to properly power the camera. And then, of course, there's the possibility that your camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.
