Hi, I have this Acer, Travelmate 5530G, with Vista. Need to install XP. No that the problem is contacting the S-ATA disk. Have tried to slipstreame SP3 onto a XPSP2 disk. Sameo samo. Any Idea`?
XP does not have a SATA driver on the installation CD, you need to either download a SATA driver and when XP ask at the start of the installation you need to provide a SATA driver for the hard disk, press F6, the driver is usually installed from the floppy disk. Alternately if your BIOS will allow you to set up the SATA drive as a ATA drive, do so and after XP is installed then install the SATA driver.
I suggest you try the BIOS setting to set the drive as a ATA drive first. If this doesn't wotk the download the SATA driver.
Go to the Acer WEB site to download the drivers you need, make sure it is Windows XP or Vista version for your particular MODEL laptop.

Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you
select the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version of the drivers you
that require and it matches the Windows version that is installed on your
laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: -

I know, - that the problem is contacting the S-ATA disk.
Was told that SP3 should solve this, but as it turned out, it dident.
Dont Know where I get the proper driver and how to get it to work.......
I have been schooled :-). There is no such thing as a driver for a SATA disk, but for the controller, and thats where my chain jumps of.
I know the F6 procedure, but my major problem is to find and get a hold of the driver(for the SATA controller)....
Right Geekman,
That is exacly my problem....
I HAVE been on Acers homepage, and I HAVE downloadet all the XP drivers, but not on word about this SATA disk controller driver....
In short, - my problem is:
---> the driver for the SATA controller <---
Usually Im quite good at this, as a matter of fact an expert, but this Vista/SATA pisses me of....
