Printer Error I am using Ami Pro 3 in Windows XP Pro.. I am using a Canon BJC 4550 Printer... Tried to print a document and received an error message.. " Couldn't open spool file " No spool file --- No print... How do I fix this.... I've tried re-Installing Ami Pro 3, ( STILL NO PRINTING )Thanks for your time.........................

The problem you are having is with the print head and not the printer. Unfortunately, with these canon print heads, they are not dated, so it is possible to install a print head that was bought new and sealed, but is still dried out because it is old.

Try running the print head through one deep cleaning cycle, this sometimes will start to get an old print head flowing.

Deep cleaning cycle can be found by going to PRINTERS , right clicking on the BJC icon, selecting PROPERTIES from the drop down menu, and then selecting the MAINTAINENCE tab.

Check to make sure that the ink tank in the print head isn't dry. Even a new print head can have a dry tank if it's old.

There are driver for different OS but not Vista.

From Canon sounds like print head problem
BC10e for Black only or BC11e for combo.
1. Replace or reinstall the BJ Cartridge ( Print Head ) - BJC-85 2. The BJC-85 may require repair 3. Turn the printer off for at least 15 minutes

Purchase a PCMCIA parallel port card. That's a PC Card parallel port adapter. It provides a native parallel port to laptops that do not have one built in. Works perfectly in ALL cases, even with the scanner cartridge.

Try disable bidirectional support

and try the XP driver. If this doesn't work, you may not be able to interface this printer to Vista.

Go to this link. Select Windows XP in the Select OS box. Download the driver and follow instructions to install the driver. Do not connect or turn on the printer until the installation program tells you to do so.

hmm..should..look for the canon link through this site, and enter your model number, then look for publications and user manuals

you might have to go their site and download the drivers or software for the printer if you using xp. If that doesn't work try another usb cable form something else in the house.
