Blank screen, code by caps button blinks once
Does the HP logo show before going blank? If this is the case it is a software problem. Try booting OS from a OS CD or USB key (must be formatted as bootable with OS on it). If you don't see the HP logo whe you start the PC, then it must be a hardware issue. In this second case, if the screen has some kind of retro illunination, you may have a problem with mother board or primary HDD/partition. If the screen has no illumination and looks like pc is shut down, the problem is with the Video hardware, such as loose contact of cable going to the video.

Sounds like a software issue with the power settings for the screen. Go into the display properties, open the tab that reads screen saver, click on the power button. Adjust the screen setting to never. This should take care of your problem, if it doesn't then it may be a loose connection on or around the screen. CHeck the connections.

This unit should still be in warranty. If out of the first year warranty, HP has extended the warranty program for Video issues for a extra year from date of purchase.
Register your unit with HP, if not already and email customer care and log your video issue, ASAP.
I hope this has helped you.

Open the Notebook from the back side and locate the RAM. Now remove the RAM and place it again and check, you can even try inserting the RAM in different slot if any used slot is available.
Check out.
