Question about Samsung HP-R5052 50 in. Plasma HDTV

1 Answer

Black Screen I think I might have changed the "mode" on my TV inadvertantly. The screen is black and no sound. I have Direct TV connected and I am not getting a picture. When I try to change the channel, "not allowed in this mode" or something to that affect comes up. I have tried resetting the cable box so I don't think it is the cable, I think the TV is somehow in a different mode. It was after viewing a DVD which works fine. But I can't get back to the TV mode???

I have a Samsung HP5053 Plasma Flat Screen and there was a cracking noise and the picture clarity changed to dull. Does anyone else have information on recalls for this TV?

Seems you set it to "Stereo Direct" mode. This is an analog only mode, while you are using a digital signal. You can change this with the mode button.
Press menu, on the main menu screen 1, scroll down to stereo direct. Turn this OFF.
This should solve your issue!

Can't get it back to tv input - tv connected to 2 direct tv satellites. changed input to dvd mode and now tv mode won't come back up. went to menu to change input and still cannot get tv to come up

You set may be set to Home Theater mode.
I think it is in the advanced menu.
Set home theater to off. This will fix the input on the television to input one, no matter what you do.

I hope that this helps you.

Sounds like you might be in "Air" mode and you want to change to "cable" mode. You are going to need to access the menu settings on the tv and change the cable input.

I had the same problem on my 47 inch Westinghoust HDTV. It turned out to be a problem related to my satellite tv (Direct TV) remote controller. Someone inadvertently hit the "format" key and jacked it up. I set back to it's original position and get the full screen. Don't know if you have cable or satellite, but this may help someone having this problem,

Hi gp63

you will need to change the settings of the tv to ensure that it is on the right mode. ie. av1, av2, dvd, what ever the settings you have used for your tv.
