Printer won't print in some softwares but will print in others.
I've tried 2 different printers. I've uninstalled the printers and re-installed them. I've changed printer drivers. The same thing is happening with both printers. I can print in some softwares but not in others. I don't get any kind of error message when it doesn't print. The printer windows respond as if everything went to the printer ok. I've checked the printer que to see if anything is hung. All looks good. I've attached both of these printers to other computers and they print fine. I've even connected to these printers over the network from the "bad" computer and everything will print, just not when they are hooked up directly to this one computer. We are running Windows 2000 SP4 machines on a Windows 2003 Server network.

It probably changed its IP address. Try uninstalling its driver and re installing it. Some smart drivers automatically detects their printers once connected on a router. Also check connection from device manager .....
What is the version of your Mac operating system? It would be best that you uninstall any existing printer driver first > reboot your computer > then reinstall the printer driver.
Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the
Lexmark X5470 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system
> click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended
Downloads > download and execute the file. Simply follow the instructions on
your computer screen to complete the installation.
Then try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.
could you try another cable, maybe the cable is the problem. If not, test the port if it detects other devices. If not disconnect the printer and install first the driver and then when it asks for the printer, hook it up.
i,d suggest the paper sensor that you,ve disabled is suspect.
Alternatively, could be a cabling error.
Try a new printer cable, if this fails uninstall remove completely all software and printer, along with cabling. start computer/shutdown. re setup the whole printer as a new installation. if non of this works. Bin it and buy a new printer.
Finally if you,ve got standard windows 98. upgrade to 98se. might help.

If your printer all of a sudden started giving you ?out of memory? errors while printing things you could print before, then you might have a problem.
First thing to do is print out a copy of your printers configuration and verify how much memory the printer thinks it has. If it?s different from what you physically installed you may have issues with you memory. If you are trying to print large graphics they you simply may just need to increase you printers memory.
If you?ve got plenty of memory, you haven?t changed or done anything to cause this error and you?ve been able to print this material before without errors here are some things to try:
The 5P doesn?t have a display screen I?m assuming you?re getting this error in Windows. What is the status of the LEDs on the printer when you get this error? If you or anyone else with a similar problem is so inclined here is HPs LED code sheet:
Try deleting your existing printer queue, downloading a new copy of the appropriate driver and reinstall. Here is the link to the HP site, simply select your operating system, select and download the appropriate driver. I personally am more partial to the pcl 5e driver and avoid everything else, in particular the PostScript drivers. Here is the HP link for their LaserJet 5p drivers:
If none of this works let us know what happened that seems pertinent.
