Re: canon imagerunner 5020
You have either a bad sensor or there is a small piece of paper on a sensor.
1-take out all trays ( or open and look from both sides ) look at where the paper feeds ( where the tires are) there is a small black lever if lifted will snap back in place, spring loaded. is there paper there?
next open copier put handle down, will bring transport with belts down, look to the right there are two long rollers and another sensor there or on the transport itself does it have paper or spring action?
next open left side where it gets hot ( good idea to do this one when cold) there is a sensor there usually on the door itself, next if you have a duplexer open and check the top and bottom of duplexer
next check sorter
if there is no paper anywhere bad sensor.

kindly check it what shows in the display:
"paperjam 0" , its related to pick up roller related problem.
"paperjam 1", its related to cartridge unit, kindly re inserted the cartridge.
"paperjam 2", its related fuser unit, kindly open the rear cover of printer, ther you can see the fuser unit. check the one liver from fuser unit to HVPS .
kindly check all these things and contact
Check whether the inside is perfectly clean - it might be that while you were trying to fix the jam, some paper was left stuck inside. Otherwise try disconnecting the printer from the power supply to allow it to reset.
If paper jam light is solid or printer shows paper out light solid all the time,
Then try these suggeted steps:
Take the Tray 2 out and check if all the paper guides are moving freely if they are than remove the toner cartridge and check if any toner sensor is not align correctly. If they are aligned correctly than next to the pickup roller there is a small piece of plastic make sure it should be hanging freely if it is than we need to perform cold reset of the printer. Switch off the printer press and hold down the go button and switch the printer on keep holding down go button till the time three lights lit up on control panel, as soon as three lights lits up release the go button and let the printer initialise of it s own. If that doesn't fix than Formatter Board of the printer is faulty.
Logic: If there is no paper jam and printer rep[orts the jam means either any of the sensors is not aligned correctly and reporting the jam or formatter Board(Motherboard) of the printer is faulty and showing incorrect display.
Thanks and Regards
I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy
paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print
button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it
will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I
have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this
way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps.Bud
