Does it appear that the computer is actually starting up? I'm envisioning a computer where the power light comes on but you see no disk activity, hear no beeps or other sounds, and the keyboard doesn't respond to CapLock or NumLock.

In that case it's a computer problem, not a monitor problem. Can you confirm?

I agree it must be a PCI slot or video card problem .Try to change the videocard.

Came home to find computer off. It was left in sleep mode. The moniter keeps saying there is no signal and the keyboard has no power.

If its truely in sleep mode, and won't come out of sleep mode. Unplug the computer from its power, hold the power button down for 5-15 sec, then wait 2-5 full minutes. Then plug it back in, and turn it on.
If that doesn't work it is NOT stuck in sleep mode. Most dell computers I've worked with the caps go out in the power supply and/or the motherboard. I would next clean out the computer with canned air, check the caps on the motherboard, and in the power supply. If there are any bad caps, replace them, and it should fix it. Hopefully though the above paragraph fixes your problem.

Computer starts but moniter stays in sleep mode .. moniter works on different comp .. will adding a vid card to my comp fix this problem ??

Actually, Yes. It seems like you have answered your own question... Especially considering the monitor works on another computer.

Do you have another monitor to test on this computer?

Although another consideration could be if you recently installed or downloaded a program which may have changed your video output range to a setting your video monitor wont handle. If this is the case and you can start the computer in safe mode, this will allow you to go into your properties settings and change it back. This way, a new vid card is not req.

Good Luck

Mikomi ak-808u keyboard

When you press your power button your system goes to sleep mode as per your system settings. To awake your system just press any key or 'Awake Key' (if its present on your keyboard), then your system will be back. No need to wait.

Thanks
