Downloading North American Maps

The micro SD card has to be between 4-8gb. Garmin Express is used to load the South American maps. Garmin Express can be downloaded from Garmin. Once installed on your PC, plug your GPS into your PC. The program should give you the option to install the South American maps to the SD card.

Update your unit using Garmin Webupdater. The latest updated firmware allows the units to read all sd/microsd cards You can download garmin webupdater from here: http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

Download install and run the program and follow the on screen prompts to update your unit.

If you purchased this in the USA it will have North American basemaps and detail maps (probably a version of City Navigator). To use it in Europe, you will need to purchase Europe maps from the Garmin web site and install them. I have seen Europe maps for other Garmin units, so I would anticipate that they would be available for your 265WT.

You'll have to load the North American maps into the unit. Go to www.garmin.com and register your unit with the site. You will then be able to purchase the north american maps and download to your unit using the Garmin updater on the site. The maps are all serialized to work with each unit ID, so a North American map on another user's Garmin will not work on yours (it is Garmin's proprietary copy protection system).

With the off, plug in your Nuvi to your computer using the supplied USB cable (you can also use a usb camera cord ).

The Unit will show a screen that your pluged in.

Now go to www.MyGarmin.com and register your unit. It then will give you the lastest updates.

I use the North American 2009 or Updated North American 2010 maps for when I go back and forth to Canada from the States.. both maps are good

I don't have a Nuvi 1300, only a 200 and a 215. You may want to try loading only the Continental US map. Not the whole Northern Hemisphere. It maybe that your Nuvi 1300 doesn't have enough memory to contain the entire map.
I did the same thing with my Nuvi 200 when I first got it. Was ready to drop it onto the pavement from my third floor balcony!!! Went out and bought a second Nuvi that same day, and did the same thing to it too. I was livid all weekend long.
By Monday morning I finally got with someone there at Garmin who walked me thru the process and explained that the Nuvi can't hold that much info at once. Only part of the maps.

It will depend on how much memory you have in your Garmin. If you have maps that you want to keep then I would download those first and then add in the Ireland maps. Or wait until you leave to add in Ireland. I believe the Garmin will tell you if there isn't enough room to add in Ireland.

www.garmin.com ...Make an account it is free and register your Nuvi .The website will be www.my.garmin.com ....From that page you will be able to download all things you need..Manual,maybe software update....all...... I have a Garmin too..Nuvi 200 And it is up to date thanks to www.garmin.com....Connect the nuvi to computer go to website and redownload software for garmin(not maps) .and after try to activate the maps....If it isn't work try to check if it is a problem with that map...but I think it is software
