I assume you are replacing the built-in Audiobahn power amplifier with your 4 channel Soundstream amp. If so, you can set the Soundstream for bridge mode which should net you 2 high power channels of 250Wrms@4ohms or 500Wrms total power (if the speakers are quad VC), or alternatively, non bridged for 4x125Wrms (if the speakers are dual VC). You can see why below.
Next, you need to confirm each subwoofers coil configuration as follows: If each woofer is quad, there will be 8 connectors; if dual VC, then there will be 4 connectors. For dual VC, if each VC is 4ohm, you can choose between 8 or 2 ohms by series or parallel wiring. If each VC is 2 ohm, you can have 4 ohms in series to use. This can be determined with an ohm meter across one set of VC terminals. If you can get 4 ohm for each speaker, this will allow you to use the 2 channel bridged mode with each speaker getting the full 250W. If each VC is 2 ohm, use non bridged mode and run each of the 4 channels to each VC. For this case, use a 2 to 1 RCA jack to sum the two channels for each speaker on the amp's input side to make the signal 2 channel instead of 4 channel. Below are examples of quad and dual VC for reference only, the wiring may not match your setup which will depend on your VC resistance (impedance) measurement. Don't forget to set your HPF(High Pass Filter) as this is a subwoofer setup.

SOURCE: How should I wire up this amp and sub

The amp's not actually a very good match for the sub, since the sub can be wired for 2 ohms or 8 ohms, and the amplifier is most efficient at 4 ohms in bridged mode. My advice would be to wire the amp in bridged mode, and wire the sub for an 8 ohm load. To do this, the amp's (+) wire should go to the (+) terminal on one of the sub's voice coils. Then run a wire from the (-) terminal on the OTHER voice coil to the (-) terminal on the amp. The remaining (+) and (-) terminals (on opposite voice coils) should be connected to each other with a wire. Your original wiring setup had the amplifier connected to only one voice coil, while the other voice coil was shorted.

SOURCE: Hi, I want to know what is the best way to wire

Hello , I will be glad to help you.As far as your speakers..It depends on what impedance your subs are rated and if your Picasso amp can be bridged at 4ohm or 8ohm. If your subs are 8ohm each you can wire your subs in parallel and wire them to picasso amp in bridged mode. If your subs are 4ohm each. Then wire the subs in series then wire them to amp in bridged mode..caution do not wire subs in parallel if they are 4ohm .This would bring impedance to about 2 ohms and would be harsh for amp to handle...Goodluck

I have a 12 inch audiobahn 550 rms 4 ohm coil ported box and a dual box with 12 inch subs they say 550 max wattas a piece thats it waht amp do i need to get atleast 80% of my power in bass

Get a 1200 watt 4 channel amp that's 2 ohm stable. Bridge 2 channels into the single 550W rms audiobahn. Use the other channels for each side of the dual box. Turn the LPF or Low Pass Filter on and vibrate down the road.

I have a audiobahn a400t and im running 2-12''jh45 mtx jackhammers the speakers are wired in parallel stabel @ 2or1 ohm. the speakers are in a ported box. how do i run my wires to my hook these up right to...

Hello rattle822,

A pair of JH4512-04's can be wired to 2 ohms if the subs themselves are paralleled. There's only one voice coil and it's 4 ohm. If wired in series, the final impedance to the amp would be 8 ohms. They cannot be wired to 1 ohm.

In bridged mode, your 4-channel amp is only stable down to 4 ohms. You can bridge 2 of the channels to provide a relatively low 200 watts RMS X 2. The best power solution for your subs would be to bridge channels 1 and 2 and wire one sub to it. Likewise, bridge channels 3 and 4 and connect the other sub. If you connect both subs in parallel, the impedance will be too low causing the amp to overheat and possible fail.

As for the settings: Low pass filter on, crossover somewhere between 80-100, input levels to match your receiver, and bass boost to your personal preference.

Hope this helps.

2 L5 12'S 2OHM

I like JL Audio's products and in this case a 1000/1 would match these subs really well considering that each sub is rated at 600 watts RMS. I know that you want to bring these subs to the max and if you're not worried about blowing them up you can use two JL Audio 1000/1's, the JL amps have something called ohm matching and can put out 1000watts RMS at any load between 2ohms and 16ohms. A very use full feature - as well as a subsonic filter that can keep out the bass you can't hear and thus keep your subs alive longer especially if you plan to max em' out. Check out Ebay for good prices on JL Audio. Another choice might be an Audiobahn 2300, or preferably an 1800d. D class amps are best for max output and I've wired an Audiobahn 1800d down to a 1 ohm load (to two dual 4 ohm 15" Cerwin Vega Strokers paralleled down) and it was able to stay alive, but this was not used for prolonged listening (Short bursts for SPL comps). Good luck and I'll leave you with an old trick I used to use on my clients SPL Comp cars. Run an in-line fuse to each sub - start at about a 100amp fuse (1,000w @ 12v = 120 amp draw) and move it up if it blows too early, fuses are cheaper than subs! Let me know what box you are running as it must be built specifically for running the subs all-out. You can e-mail me @ ([email protected]) for free specs on basic enlosures.

Soundstream rub 500-1 mono....

U need to make sure your subs are wired correctly. And u need to make sure all your speakers are at the same ohm load. If u hook up two subs on one channel and two more on the other one u need to make sure that your subs are all 2ohm or 4ohm subs cause if u got two 4ohm subs ran parrallel then u will have a 2ohm setting and if both of them are 2ohm subs them your load will be a 1ohm load witch could harm your amp unless its an 1ohm stable amplifier.
