SOURCE: my 1986 chevy had an after market stereo and no

on the 1986 chevy coming out the ignitiion wire is grey the battery wire is yellow and the ground is black. On the radio the ignition wire is red the battery is yellow and the ground is black. I found the info on the truck in an old repair manual and the info for the radio in the paperwork that came with it. Anyway once you hook these three then you can test to see which speaker wires go to whick speakers. Take any two sp. wires from the truck and hook them up to any speaker wires on th radio and see whick speakers play. For me, I looked behind my seat and the wires were showing. yellow + and yellow/brown -RL. Light blue+ and dark blue - RR.

SOURCE: new kenwood kdc-mp242 installed turns on but no sound

The Blue/White wire, Brown wire, and Blue wire???? These don't have to be connected unless you are using a separate Power Amp...if you are, then the Blue/White wire needs to be used to switch on the power amp. Here is a link to Kenwood for your KDC-MP242 Instruction Manual. Reference page 16.

Kenwood kdc-mp242 main sceen doesnot light up anymore or when it wants to,radio work well

you probably have bad solder connections on some surface mount resistors inside of the radio. they would be on the right side of the radio as it is facing you. they need to be resoldered.

Kenwood kdc mp242, no sound, ford explorer, 94

if that ford had premium sound you have either not hooked up the factory amp or you have blown a fuse to it. you won't get sound unless that amp is hooked up.
