Lexmark P315 InkJet Photo Printer Ink Cartridge Problem
Hi, I would greatly appreciate any help with this.
I have the stated photo printer and it was fine until I changed the ink cartridge. I've changed it before, and it's been fine. But this time, it reads "cartridge error". So i thought it was a faulty cartridge, tried again with a new one, and at times, it says "cartridge error" other times, it says "cartridge not detected". I'm starting to think it's the printer itself, but it recognises the old, empty cartridge if I put it back in.
I don't know what to do, short of taking it apart or taking it somewhere to be looked at.

The Lexmark x7170 should let you continue printing with the ink cartridge regardless of the estimated ink with most cartridges. The only exception to this is if the cartridges are part of Lexmark's returns programme. I would advise removing the cartridge and checking for small text stating "Return Programme Cartridge" on the label. If this is present sadly there is no way of continuing, apart from buying a new cartridge.
With regards to the low ink estimate, am I right in assuming you are using a refilled or remanufactured ink cartridge? If so this is unavoidable but should not prevent you from printing until the ink physically runs out.
Just to clarify, you are stating INK? The Canon PC941 uses an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Toner Cartridge. Canon toner cartridges for PC941
printer are supplies produced by the same manufacturer that makes given
piece of equipment. Toner cartridges produced by Canon are called OEM. Remove the toner from the machine and then use cotton swabs and alcohol to clean around the roller wheels of all drawer areas. Be sure to unplug the equipment before attempting to clean the wheels.
Clean the contacts on the HP Cartridge. I've had the same error before and i switched it to a fresh new cartridge.. works fine ever since. THen i decided to switch back to the old cartridge, same error as you but i cleaned the contacts on the cartridge, works for a while but done after a week. Problem is that the ribbon circuit is rusted and the printer doesnt recognize the ink anymore.
Also make sure you both have the ink cartridges in place. Make sure it is seated properly inside.
What i can recommend is call epson and tell them about this issue and for sure they are going to replace the ink and will run diagnostic test on your printer- here is there support line number 562-276-1300
You need a chip-resetting tool.
Or use the printers software utilitie changing ink cartridge, some printers insist that you go into your printer software/program. to inform or communicate with the printer, that you are changing a Cartridge. then the printer, will move the printhead to the desired position, to remove the cartridge.
When the new cartridge is installed, the printer is set to look for new changes. make sure you,ve inserted the cartridge fully into it,s slot ( holder ) push until you get a slight click.
If you,ve disabled Status monitor, then your printer cannot output the Cartridge Status. ( empty-Full )
