My vtech cordless phone reads "rec mem full" how do i get this off? model number is cs6859

The message on crystal reads"no link to base. Move closer to base, try again". I put in a new battery in each phone and not sure if they are charging. i keep getting the same message. What is the problem and how do I solve it?

The key is to look up model kxtg1033s - same machine, they only produced one manual - this model. Page 27

To disable the answering machine function on that unit, just press the button on the base unit that looks like a cassette tape.

You can also see page 34 of the User's Manual for detailed instructions and illustrations on how to disable this feature using the handset buttons as well.
