My answering machine on my cordless vtech phone will not work because it says rec mem full. why does it say this and how can I remove this? model number is CS6859
The message on crystal reads"no link to base. Move closer to base, try again". I put in a new battery in each phone and not sure if they are charging. i keep getting the same message. What is the problem and how do I solve it?

I found the manual... Safemanuals.com
The key is to look up model kxtg1033s - same machine, they only produced one manual - this model. Page 27

We had the same problem. Unplugging the unit and restarting it again solved the problem.

SOURCE: How do i disable the answering machine on
First of all, thank you very much Trish for choosing FIXYA today for your online technical support needs.
To disable the answering machine function on that unit, just press the button on the base unit that looks like a cassette tape.
You can also see page 34 of the User's Manual for detailed instructions and illustrations on how to disable this feature using the handset buttons as well.
Here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and blue highlighted section of text just above.
This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.
You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents, although many computers already have this type of utility pre-installed. You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary. Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.
I truly hope that was helpful to you.
Good luck and take care.
Joe.
