t sounds like you may be getting some kind of interference. What make
and model of surge protector/line conditioner are you using?
Have you tried unplugging the set for say 20 seconds after the set has
been turned off and the fans have stopped? It just may stop the
problem.
When you say the you see lines throughout the screen, are they uniformly spaced vertical lines of random colors?

Go into Setup menu and look for speaker settings, make sure "speakers ON" is selected. If you still have a problem, post makes and models of any connected equipment. Hope this helps
