Go to Club Nintendo and register for an account.

If it adds, then it is real.
I don't think I've seen a fake DS Lite before.

Hi,

Sounds like there is an issue with your top screens ribbon connection, I'm afraid your only real option is to have the screen replaced (Although you may be very lucky and only have to re-seat the connection but this is very unlikely with your description). So you have 3 choices:

1) If under warranty send it off to them to sort it out.
2) Take it to a repair shop/ send it to nintendo for a repair (this will cost).
3) You can buy a replacement screen and fit it your self, to do this you will need soldering equipment, a steady hand and basic soldering skills, a "+" screwdriver, a tri-wing screwdriver, a thin leverage tool (I use a craft knife) and a bit of patience.

ink is likely low OR if the cartrage is old the print jet heads might be clogged try cleaning with rubbing alcohol

The teflon coating on the fuser roll is probably worn off

Push menu on your printer, then fin maintainance. Then go to clean printer and push the green button. It will clean the cartridges for you and that should help. 

Assuming you have and INK JET PRINTER the heads are probably clogged or you cartridges are empty.
If the heads are clogged there is no easy way to clean them. If you don't mind the mess and you can put model cars together without instructions - go for it. Otherwise you may be looking at a new printer.
