PORTABLE A/C COND. FAN MOTOR ON PORTABLE A/C RUNS OFF AND ON, ONLY WHEN THE MOTOR IS COOL IT RUNS, BUT WHEN ITS HOT DOES NOT RUN. BUT WHEN I FORCE IT TO RUN WITH HAND IT RUNS FOR A WHILE. I KNOW THAT THE CAPACITOR IS STILL GOOD. I JUST WONDERING IF I NEED A NEW COND. MOTOR PART NO. IS LS-40I-4P

the condenser needs cleaning or the cond fan motor is not running.... remove the front grill located on the bottom of unit next to floor, you can see the cond coils from there, you should also be able tell if the fan is running, it is located in the rear of unit,, remove the cover behind ref at bottom to access the cond fan motor....

Conia CPA 12020 immaculate cond, but the bottom motor compressor won't go on and cool. Just top fan. Anyone know what could be?

you need to fix the fan down by compressor as it cools the cond coils and causes proper orp of cmpressor . if it not running the comp runs too hot and does not pump the refergent and may be shutting of on overload . the high tempt between the doors will be less with fan working . but some warm tempt is normal .. mm

need to know brand and model. which fan was replaced ( evap or cond ) . if evap fan it may be the door sw as some model only run fan wth door closed. if it's the cond (fan) motor then ck wiring at compressor . or borken wire. in or about the compresser area .. hope thes help . mm

You have two fan's on your truck, 1 is a fan clutch runs with the drive belt, 2 elec fan motor, with test light and engine running at normal temp, just a little bit above 1/2 way on your temp gauge check voltage at elec. cooling fan harness if you have voltage at one of the two wire's and fan don't turn on, bad cooling fan motor, on the fan clutch after you check voltage at elec. fan motor turn engine off, with your hand spin drive belt fan if it spin's freely bad fan clutch, replace it.Also check cooling level.Hope this was very helpful

check amp draw on the compressor wires.

if the fan motor is on but the compressor is not : if the compressor has correct voltage up to the terminals and is not operating, the compressor is bad, if ther is not power to the terminals, the start components may be the culprit, if there is no power to the start componenets then the controller is the issue.

IF NOTHING IS RUNNING ... TRY TO LOCATE THE DEFROST TIMER(USUALLY LOCATED WHERE YOUR COLD CONTROLS ARE) YOU SHOULD SEE A SMALL HOLE WHERE YOU CAN MANUALLY TURN THE TIMER WITH A SCREW DRIVER.IT CAN ONLY TURN IN ONE DIRECTION. IF THE MOTOR IS RUNNING. CHECK TO SEE IF COMPRESSOR IN THE BACK IS RUNNING ... IF IT ISNT AND IS "HOT" (BE CAREFULL) SEE IF THE CONDENSER MOTOR NEAR THE COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING ... IF NOT ... THE COND. MOTOR IS BAD ... THAT MOTOR RUNS IF POWER IS GOING TO THE COMPRESSOR ALWAYS. IF COMPRESSOR IS HOT AND NOT RUNNING AND COND. FAN IS RUNNING .... UN PLUG FRIG AND WAIT TILL COMPRESSOR IS COOL TO THE TOUCH. THESE COMPRESSORS HAVE AN INTERNAL T-STAT THAT PROTECTS THE COMPRESSOR IF IT SHORT CYCLES.IT SOMETIMES GETS SO HOT IT DOES TAKE HOURS TO COOL OFF. THERE IS ALSO A DEFROST-TERMINATION SWITCH THAT CAN GO BAD. CONSULT A LICSESED FACTORY CERTIFIED COMPANY TO GIVE YOU A FIXED-PRICE DIAGNOSTIC TEST.
