SOURCE: I want to restore my Acer Aspire M1100 desktop

You'll have to use your recovery disk to set it back to factory, unfortunately most recovery disks give you little or no options for which software is to be reinstalled. The only way to install windows without any of the extra software that your computer came with would be to take a standard windows installation disk and install through that. Afterwards you would have to manually install all the driver software.

Alternatively, you can install with your recovery disk and use the add/remove software feature in the control panel to remove any programs that you do not want, just be sure that you don't remove any software that is a driver for any hardware devices.

Hope this helps, get back to me if you need any more information.

Restore travelmate to factory default settings

Unfortunately for Toshiba you will need the restore disks from Toshiba. You can go online and purchase the Disks.
Option 2
1 - Use your old computer to download software so you can retrieve your Windows KEY, unless there is a sticker on your computer that has it printed.
2 - Download a correponding version of windows on the internet and use your key.
3 - After install, you may have to go to toshiba website and download needed drivers.

This should work just fine.

Restore to factory settings

all HP made computers (acer is owned by HP) dont come with backup disks anymore, they require you to make them when you first get the computer, so if you made your restore disksyou should be able to pop them in and boot off of them and it should restore to factory settings, if you didnt make the disks the closest thing you could do is reinstall windows completely.

Having problems with my acer travelmate 4060

Get virus scanner/remover, and then try restore to a date when the computer was in full working order. If that does not work, try to backup valuable data files before original default factory settings, and get model-specific drivers etc from Acer and Microsoft websites.
