I believe it is called "bird nesting" and is actually a problem with the top thread. See, my answer to the other question you posted.

Make sure you are using a brand-new needle. A bent or damaged needle may not pick up the bobbin thread.

If you can watch the needle/hook action (open the bobbin are and hand-turn the handwheel), you may see that the timing is off. There are many web sites and videos online that explain tweaking the timing.

Hi Wendy. No stitches like this is likely one of two things. The needle isn't fully inserted into the needle bar. Or it's out of time.

Call Singer at 1-800-4singer, sounds like a buttonhole lever problem. Is it like that on all styles of buttonholes? Check that out before you call them, and make sure that you pull the lever all the way down.

Singer 533 missing stiches

Replace your sharp needle, code 2020, with a ball point needle, code 2045. This usually solves the problem. You can also put "Stitch and Tear" at the bottom to help stabilize the material. If you can do not have Stitch and Tear, try a piece of tissue paper for the short term.
