Question about Ricoh Aficio SP C411DN Laser Printer

Aficio SP C411DN does not print cyan

Black/white prints fine, pictures/graphics/color fonts lack the cyan component. Installed new OEM cyan cartridge, still no cyan print. Tried everything thinkable, also consulted with technician. Fact: cyan does not print.

Well, since you've tried everything, my recommendation is to try to clean the contacts with dry cloth in the left or right side inside the printer where the cartridges place in. see the result

The print driver might be defaulted to black and white. Change it to color.

Cyan is out of ink and i want to print in only black and white
Susanne,
Unfortunately almost all of the color lasers,except a few new Canon's,use the colors to make black.
That way they can inflate how many B&W pages you can get from the blck unit.

Hp c6180 states cartridges missing or damaged
OK now this might seem bizarre, but did you go ahead and click the "Black Only" print option?

I have a C6180. Just installed all new cartridges. Tried to print and got the message that Cyan is empty. Tried all sorts of things. Then out of frustration clicked the Black Onl option. Document came out printed in color! Double checked with a picture that has lots of cyan colors. It all printed too! Go figure.

You can find the user's guide here which lists all the parts and supplies. Here's the cartridge information from the manual:
  • HP Color LaserJet black print cartridge Standard black cartridge CE260A
  • HP Color LaserJet black print cartridge High-capacity black cartridge for CLJ4525 models only CE260X
  • HP Color LaserJet cyan print cartridge Cyan cartridge CE261A
  • HP Color LaserJet yellow print cartridge Yellow cartridge CE262A
  • HP Color LaserJet magenta print cartridge Magenta cartridge CE263A
You can use the HP numbers to look for original or after-market replacements.

Aficio CL1000N Printer: On my Ricoh aficio CL1000N it says add toner Cyan....
If I remember right, the CL1000 won't print if any of the 4 colors are out. You have to replace the cyan toner in order to print, even in black and white.

If you haven't tried already, you can try taking the cyan toner out and shaking it up (just a little bit) to try to get the printer to find the little bit of toner left in the bottle.

Sounds like the cyan photoconductor unit needs to be replaced. Usually what ever the color dot is that photoconductor has a pinhole in it and the only to get rid of it is to replace it.

No. You need all the cartridges installed with functioning chips for your printer to work. The reason why you need all the colors when all you print is black is because a small amount of color prints when you print black. The manufacturers want to make up their R&D costs on the printers by selling lots of expensive ink.

Black Toner Problem
You just might have a faulty black toner cartridge think back did the problem arise when you installed the new black cartridge. Also is the toner a original if not change for a original.
