i have a Pentax Optio E30 camera and i took heaps of pics on my anniversary and when i went to download on the computer it kept showing a message on the camera screen"Card not formatted" if i remove the card i can click pictures etc, if again i insert the memory card shows the same car dnot formatted error. Camera cards are never to be formatted on the computer....only in the camera. "card error" usually always means you need to format the card in the camera. This will erase it so download any pics you want to save first.
The instructions are in the "Copying images and Sound Files" section of the manual (page 109 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one at

I hope you didn't format the card because that erases the pics forever. You could get a separate card reader and try to download them that way. You could take the card to a store like Walmart and plug the card into one of their picture making machines. When your pics show up, you can print them or even make a cd of them.
If all you need is a way to download the pics that you take, just get a card reader. If you need some specific software that came with the camera, just go to the support section of the Pentax website and you can download it to your computer.
I know that usually, you should format the card for the camera that your going to use. Try formating it in the camera and see if that works. Let me know if I can do anything else for you,
hi cacrom3,when you slide the battery compartment open the memory card is be side the batterys just push it down and let it go it should pop up so you can grab it.
