Infamous windows problems. You will have to hold power button down until pc shuts off. Cross your fingers and hope it will still load windows. If not, you will need to repair the mbr

your computer have 2 complaints one. your computer have over heating problem of your cpu. so just remove heat sink and fan of ur cpu and clean after u must put 'heat sink compound on your cpu' after you can install heat sink back.

I have a Compaq Presario SR2010NX desktop computer. Recently, very occasionally, the computer would freeze and the screen would scramble. It almost looks like someone chopped up the picture on the screen. Then we would have to manually shut down the computer and restart. It would always work fine afterwards.

Yesterday the computer did it again. It restarted fine but when my boyfriend tried to install a new mouse the computer froze again and the screen went scrambled. Well this time it did not start back up. I tried to unplug the computer from the wall and restart but that got me to the COMPAQ screen and then the computer froze again and the word compaq was doubled all the way down the screen. We continued to try to start it in PC recovery but it would get the the program and freeze. I actually got it to run once but I couldn't see what it was doing because the screen was scrambled.

Now we have restarted it so many times that it will start up, light turns green, and stays green. The computer sounds like its starting up and it seems louder than normal. The computer doesn't do anything and the screen is black. The lights on the keyboard do not turn on but the light in the mouse does. The CD drive will light up and run as well but nothing happens after that. I can't see the cursor and the keyboard does not work.

I opened the computer up, cleaned the dust off, tried to re-install my old RAM and that did not work either. I disconnected the CD drive but that did not work. Tried to start the computer with nothing plugged in except mouse, keyboard and monitor and that did not work.
I don't know what to do! Help!

this should probably work try holding the homescreen button and the lock button at the top for about 15 seconds it should restart and you'll see the apple logo wait for a couple of minutes and you should be fine

I would suggest to enter "safe mode" and then do system restore again. To do this you need to follow these steps.
1.Turn your PC on and press F8 on start up. This should take you to the screen asking what you want to do. 2. Choose safe mode from the list and press enter. 3. Once safe mode loads you should be asked if you want to restore your system to previous state. Just press no to run system restore and follow steps (you already know how to do this)
Shutting your computer down without closing operation system properly may cause start up issues like this one.

Unplug the computer for a minute and plug it back in. It should restart normally.

Usually you restart just by tapping a key in sleep or hitting the power in hibernate.

try to restart holding down F8 this puts you in safe mode then erase program and use yourestore to earlier date

Switch off and on your PC and hold down the F5 key and this should bring up your PC in Safe Mode. If this fails, then find a PC repair shop to replace the power supply.

On the windows boot screen you should be getting choices for safe mode, safe mode with networking, etc ...

Select "Disable automatic restart on system failure'

And let me know what error message(s) you have ... write it all down

Everex has a known problem with this model of laptop. It has been known to set its bios password by itself. It is a simple fix, but should be done by a proffesional. There is no charge for this repair at a Everex repair center.
If you want, this is what needs to be done. Remove the piece of plastic above the keyboard. Unscrew the 2 screws in the keyboard and lift the keyboard up( No reason to disconnect it ) Unscrew and remove the modem card in the center. There is 2 solder points c88 on the system board. You need to short those 2 points out while you press the power button on. This will reset the bios password. This should take someone about 5 minutes to do.
