SOURCE: My Asus PG221 monitor suffers from frequent issues

I'm afraid this looks like an electronic fault. Some component, most likely a capacitor, has degraded, is overheating and going out of spec.

You just might be able to squeeze some more hours of work - but the monitor is still likely to drop dead any moment now - by rigging a computer fan on the backside to extract hot air from the inside.

Possibly, the problem might have a noise factor - try adding a ferrite shielding on the cable (unless one is already there, as it often is) and see whether the thirty minutes' grace period extend somewhat.

A probably unsatisfactory solution might be to drive it at a lower resolution, so that the more relaxed frequency constraints do not stress the component so much.

When the capacitor finally blows, you might be able to recognize it and have it replaced; it's likely a US $1 component and is probably in the LCD driver section. Perhaps, just perhaps, you could already be able to see it with the naked eye looking for a component that looks "wrong" - a small cylinder that looks bloated, with electrolyte leaking, whitish powder around the base, etc. But you would still need some solder work to get it replaced - and, if it's a SMD component, chances are it can't be done at home.

Sorry for the bad news...

SOURCE: why does my asus monitor always read "no signal".

nah that happens with me sometimes..
have you connect the cable properly?
if that still can't make it works, first turn on your PC and monitor..
then plug off the cable that power them, so that your computer and monitor will suddenly off..
plug it on again, then your monitor will work again..
that works on mine cause my CPU is too old and had a power problem..

Gateway 2485w TFT LCD Monitor starts up and gate way logo comes on but still no picture. What could be the problem?

Check that the cable is good. The gateway logo is part of the initial set up being generated by the monitor itself. That showing has no bearing on the external signal.

Screens shows but then gos black

Confirm that all the input cables at the back are securely plugged at the rear of the screen and PC/output source and that the image source is switched on and displaying an image. This can be done by switching your PC on and waiting five mins. Then check that the power for the screen is on. If this does not work, then let me know

Monitor screen momentarily flashes and blacks out

Most likely the power supply. Bad capacitors, if you think you can solder in new ones, good. If not; buy a new monitor

The monitor switches on and shows benq logo, then screen goes black.Tested on 2 computers and still not working. Have changed capacitors on board but still nothing.

After changing the caps, do you get steady 12~18vdc feeding the inverter circuits? Inverter fuse OK? It can be bad transformers, or lamps also. Pictures will be great help. See where I post my pictures: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

finwiz,
When you on your computer, does any thing appear on the screen, some text display/logo etc.?
If yes then:
  • After making power on your computer start pressing F8 till boot option menu appears.
  • Then select safe mode and if it works, then goto device manager and re-install driver for your display.
If no then:
  • Check out the connection from monitor to computer and try. If still no luck then post comment whats you did and what was the result.

Thanks
