My phone line doesn't ring. Doesn't show call display of who's calling - can see date and time fine. Have tried ring tone, etc and not the issue. Now in playing with the phone have shut off a co-workers ring, and now my phone has a static sound when not in use. I can see the line lighting up when a call comes in but cannot hear a ring.
First, lets get rid of the static. Try Feature #86. This will turn off background music. When a music source is not attached you get static.
Enter programming by using Feature XXX66344 password 266344. The display should show "Terminals&Sets" press the top right button with an indicator in the display. The display should show "Show set: ____ enter the extension number that you want to check or program. The display will show ***:name. Press the top right button three times. The display will show Show Line:____ with options to Scan or List. If you select Scan it will show the lines assigned to that phone. If you select List it will start with the first line in your phone system showing one of four states 1- Unassigned, 2- Ring Only, 3- Appear&Ring, 4- Appear only. Change the selection on the line by using the CHNG soft button. This is where line assignments are changed from the four states for each extension.
The only other thing that will keep an extension from ringing is "Do Not Disturb" or DND. Feature 85 and #85 will turn this feature on and Off.
Thanks very much! I seem to have solved the static issue, and the voicemail issue. Phone is ringing on all lines which is great. My problem now is that the caller ID/appearance doesn't work. I've got it selected (I believe correctly?) to APPR/RING but it's only ringing and no appearance on any phones. Cheers.

It sounds like you are using a voicemail service from a provider, meaning you did not buy the voicemail system with the phone system. If you confirm, I can tell you how to fix this.
SOURCE: Set not ringing
When you say you are the one responsible for the programming, are you referring to programming the "physical phone" or the PBX and line cards and system functionality?
You should have an extension on your phone. Has that extension for example 222 been translated at the PBX to ring on a direct number -> (xxx) 555-1222
Or by what you are describing, you are more looking at having "shared lines" that ring in multiple locations simultaneously, and once picked up somewhere a "line lock" should be in place?

you can try to plug it in at a set that does ring and make sure it wokrs there. The programming should not have changed with the phone but ... anything is possible. If it rings at the other location then it will be the programming for that extension. Also check that it is not in DND do not disturb

courtney,
Unfortunately if the receptionist is using priority call (f69) there's not much you can do. Priority call is an administrator programmed function that overrides when your on a call and when the set is in do not disturb. Maybe bribing the receptionist might be in order.
SOURCE: M7310 - 3 phone set system - line 3 on one set does no ring tone
Feature * 6 is for the ring tone of the set, it doesn't change the cadence (ring tone) on a line...
The only way to change the ring tone on a line... it would require everyone that has that number to change.
You need to go into the programming
-> look for LINE and enter
-> put in 003 for line 3 and enter
-> under TRUNK/LINE DATA find DISTINCT RING and change
-> REL to end programming...
Now that line 3 will ring differently. But it will ring differently on everyone's sets that has line 3 on their phone

and now I've shut off ringing altogether. Calling into the office it rings once (I can't hear or see) and then the caller is hung up on.
