Frost builds up on the chute betwen the icemaker and the door dispenser unit.

The neck at the bottom of the ice maker chute builds up frost which gets knocked off when the freezer door is opened. The ice maker works fine and the temperatures seem ok.

I need you to confirm your model number. Is MZD2665HE correct? The problem is very likely a broken 12565502 Dispenser Door Spring or more providing you have the correct model number. There may be a kit if the model number is different. Thanks, John Tripp Appliance 911

SOURCE: Ice and water on bottom of freezer

sjlobo, sounds like your defrost drain pan is frozen over or has some gunk in it. When the unit goes into defrost the water is running onto the freezer floor and out the front. Remove the lower bin and check the drain hole. You may have to remove the freezer back panel. If you can, just use some very hot water and some sort of baster to unfreeze the drain. Check this first, Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Ice dispenser

I fixed it by replacing the solenoid that operates the flapper door and the flapper door. They came as a kit and both were broken.

I still have a problem which is a bad circuit board. I can't switch from ice to water. I am stuck on ice, so I have not bothered to fix.

Frost build up around ice dispenser

Does you ice dispenser serve ice through the door? If yes, then It's likely that room air is entering your freezer through the ice exit, and condensing as ice on your ice maker.

It's a very common problem; The flap isn't sealing tightly after ice is delivered through the chute. Clean you ice maker, removing all the ice, and then stuff the exit chute with plastic grocery bags. The bags will force the flap tight against the chute, and add a layer of insulation from room air. Keep an eye on ice development, for a few days, and if you're confident you've found the problem, order a replacement ice door.

Frost builds up on outside of ice maker

The little door that opens and lets the ice fall into Your cup is not closing all the way, allowing cold air to escape from Your Freezer and causing frost to build up. Simply look up at it or open the Freezer door and place a lit flashlight in the ice chute so You can see where the light is shining through the ice dispenser at. There should be a build-up of ice there that is keeping the "trap door" from closing all the way. Clean that off and You should be as good as new.

Ice dispenser frost build up - Amana refrigirator

This sounds like your ice may be melting and freezing around the chute. You may need to replace that rubber gasket on the chute. Otherwise, if you use a lot of crushed ice, that will build up badly on the chute and you can manually clean that off. I hope this helps you!

ICEMAKER FROSTING UP

Try to take some ice from the dispenser. Remove the glass and open the freezer door to look down inside the dispenser chute and see if the trap door has re-closed. If it remains open warm, humid air will enter the ice bucket and gradually freeze the cubes together. Trap door remaining open is generally caused by a rusted electrical coil which pulls the door open electrically then sticks, unable to re-close. Coil is located behind the panel that operates the dispenser. Relatively easily accessible.

Ice dispenser in door clogged up or frozen

I would contact Hotpoint direct for this one. It sounds like a design fault to me.

What I think may be going on is that the cubes are melting too much, then refreezing lower down.

Set your freezer to -18, and the fridge to +2 and see if that changes things any.

Check seals in that area. Where is the moisture coming from to generate the frosting? - Is the location high in humidity?

Ice Jam in Chute - Whirlpool IDI SxS

first check would be to see if the flapper door is closing all the way in the dispenser area. best way is to remove the ice bucket and shine a flashlight from the front up into the disp door area and look for light around the door from inside the chute.

another check would be to make sure the door delay mechanism is connected an not allowing the dispenser door to close to fast trapping a cubes in the door and causing an air leak in the chute..

Keep in mind if you use alot of crushed ice frost build up is faster than with just cubed.

Frost on icemaker door

Most likely the ice door is not closing properly.
Clean out the ice chute and look down it from the inside while you shine a flashlite up from the outside. If you see light around the door then it needs to be replaced or something is wrong with the mechanism.
Post back and let me know what you find.

Bottom of ice maker/dispenser frosting over

Open the freezer door and look down the ice chute while you shine a flashlite up the dispenser cute from the outside. If you see light around the chute door, it needs to be replaced or something is wrong with the mechanism. The problem you describe is almost always air leakage around that flap.
