Sounds a lot like the Power supply board. But you have to check it out further to be sure. Email me back and we'll chat. GURU JAY

Try to replace the YSCAN board. If not fix it, then it's the PDP Panel failure.

There are at least two issues here. First you have bad buffer boards. Second Very possibly a bad X-Main bd and P-Logic bds. Have a trained Samsung tech troubleshoot the set.

HI,
There are three likely causes for horizontal lines on your plasma TV.
1) A bad incoming signal. Do you see the lines on every channel, and from every source? If you play a DVD or videotape and the lines are still there, then that rules out your cable television or satellite box if you have one. However, if you find that the lines disappear when you play a DVD, I would contact the support desk for your cable or satellite provider.
2) A burn-in. This is caused by things like excessive use of video games or watching TV programs that have static (unchanging elements) like icons or scores or even lines. Have you tried using the built-in burn-in cleanup utility that is part of most Samsung plasma sets? Even if you suspect that the problem is not caused by burn-in i would recommend you try this just to see if it has an effect.
3) A problem with the electronics. Here you have to asnwer the following: is your set still under warranty? Most plasmas come with a one- or two-year warranty. If you paid for the set with certain types of credit cards, your warranty may be extended by a year or so: call your credit card.
If the set is still under warranty, immediately arrange for a repair and keep a record of all dates, names, phone numbers, and promises made. Don't accept any statement that five horizontal lines is "acceptable" to the maker; a pixel here or there may be excused but not a serious problem like yours.
Finally, if your set is NOT under warranty, consider carefully whether to make a repair or buy a new set. New set prices have dropped sharply, and the difference between a repair and a new set may not be significant. Of course, you can wait until the set fails.
thank you,

more likely to be bad LCD panel (very expensive), but you can try replacing the LCD controller first (around $80~100).
