Normaly there is an electromagnetic flap at the ice dispenser, where the ice falls thru. this is to keep the cold inside and the warm outside. i would guess that this flap either hangs (does not open), or the electromagnetic mechanism is not working as designed (maybe due to a lack of electric contact?).

if the flap just hangs, push it from outside in or from inside out, you have to try which direction it goes.

if the electromagetic drive is malfunktioning you have to check for the magnetdrive is failing or you just do not have power there. if the magnet is dead, replace it. if the power is not there you need to see a technican to find the cause.

The ice dispenser is not working

If your design is the conventional with a catch bucket and auger it is likely that the output has frozen and is prohibiting the cubes to enter the shoot. Remove the bucket and discard the ice. Inspect the shoot in the door and clear any ice built up. Check that the catch bucket auger is free to turn and no built up ice in the output side that lines up with the shoot.

If the door to the shoot located in the freezer door fails to close completely then frost and ice will continue to build up in the shoot.

Cycle by hand a few times to ensure that the door will close. Also when dispensing ice ensure that the arm that contacts the glass has returned to the front position ensuring that the door is closed.

Wait for a new tray of ice. It will take a minute or two for the ice to find its way to the glass from a completely emptied bucket and shoot.

Hope this has helped?

Ice won't come out

if it's making ice, but the ice won't come out, it is likely going to be the dispenser motor (found behind the ice bucket).

the other possibility is the lever where you put the cup could not be hitting the switch, but most likely it is the dispenser motor.

I cannot get the ice bucket out of the door. It has always been very difficult to remove unless it was just after I emptied the bucket and let it completely dry out before returning it to the door. I...

its just partially defrosted, ice chunks are up inside and through the unit, keep using the hair dryer,, also , once its defrosted completely, Look for a small leak , thats whats causing your problem in the first place

No ice instead water dripping down into freezer making icicles

If you have icicles, where are they forming at? If on the front of the ice bucket, then look at the dispenser shoot door is closing all the way. The way to check that is to look into the shoot while holding a flash light (or bright light) up into the dispenser from the front side of door. You should see no light.

Now if you have ice buildup around the inside of bucket, mainly from the ice maker to the bucket then you either have an ice maker that is leaking water or you have a water valve that is not shutting off all the way. Suspect water valve if you have ice buildup within water inlet tube on top of ice maker. Frozen water within tube is good indication that water valve is leaking.

Look inside refrig side of refrig, usually located on right top side of wall, you will find a tag with model number and serial number. Need both to get you the right part number for ice maker or water valve.

Ice maker makes ice but can't dispense ice

Please try this. Remove your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly which is where the Auger (corkscrew) is located. You should be able to see the Auger Motor Drive Fork which is located permanently inside the freezer compartment... opposite the end of the Removable Ice Bucket Assembly that you just took out. Close the freezer door and attempt to dispense ice... if you can hear the Auger Motor running as you attempt to dispense ice... then the Auger Motor is OK. Dump out all the ice that is in your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly and wash it out in your kitchen sink with warm water. Reach into your freezer and put your hand on the Auger Motor Drive Fork ... you should be able to rotate it CW or CCW...it is a little hard to turn but it will turn. Position the Auger Motor Fork to a 12:00 and 6:00 o'clock position. Now take your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly and position its Receiver Auger Fork to a 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock ....Re install the Removable Ice Bucket Assembly into the Auger Drive Fork. Close the freezer door and again attempt operate the ice dispenser... you should hear the Auger Motor again run as you press the ice dispenser. Note....at this same time the Ice Chute Door in the Freezer Door should spring open so that ice can fall out. Of course you have no ice in the Auger at this time...but it all this works then future production of ice will fall out. Note...Usually the Auger Motor never fails. but the whole thing can get jammed with ice and not dispense. Also, the the solenoid that operates the Ice Chute Door fails quite frequently. Last but not least... if nothing is happening... it is a control board type problem. Hopes this helps! Handy Henry

Can i put ice in thee ice bucket in my american fridge freezer

you can put ice in the bucket and it will dispense. couple things though. if you use bag ice make sure it isnt wet when you put it in the bucket, the water will leak into the dispenser motor and cause it to short out also the ice will clump up causing the bucket to possibly break. if you are using ice out of a plastic tray dont try to use the crushed ice feature it also c an cause the bucket to possibly break.. peyton

When dispensing ice we only get crushed ice even though the button is on ice cubes.

your actuator is probably bad its a little solenoid that the ice bucket rod sticks in to at the back remove the ice bucket find the square that the actuator rod sticks into look in it if you see a bar about halfway down in the square see if you can take your finger and pull it down then hold in the door switch on the cabinet not the one that runs the freezer light and have some on actuate the ice disp to see if the bar goes up and down if not you will need to replace the solenoid also clean the bucket and check that the rod is moving the door in the bucket

Ice maker does not stop working and overfills, then ice dispenser does not work and pushes door open.

Continuous ice production, too much ice in the bucket, ice cubes overflowing the bucket, ice cubes falling behind the bucket or ice lifting the chiller shelf can now be resolved by installing a redesigned feeler arm. The new arm is designed with a slight curve to cycle the icemaker “OFF“ before the cubes overflow the ice bucket. Order part number WR49X10103.
